I never intended to offend any Catholics, sorry if I did, especially you, Paula. Just telling a story I found interesting.

Keep me out of your dirty talk, you foul-mouthed temptress! BTW, are you a foul-mouthed temptress? If so, PM me, we need to talk privately.
  4. I had to do it... it wasn't easy, but I lost 15 lbs in those 2 weeks, and it helped "clean" out my insides prior to the surgery, which my docs says makes recovery easier. My doc is a real stickler on this stuff... 2 weeks pre-op, low carb liquids. 2 weeks post op clear liquids 2 weeks pureed foods/thick liquids 2 weeks mushies then Gradually move into solids. He says NO exceptions, and has you work with the dietician on a plan outlining your meals and supplements.

Not an attack on the Catholic Church, simply a statement on hypocrisy. It is not 3rd party information... I was there during the whole "ordeal". The friend wanted a catholic mass mainly for her dying grandma, otherwise she would have gone another route. BTW, I was not only raised Roman Catholic, I was an alterboy, then a lector, and was on the church board at the age of 15. I attended catholic school, and was accepted into the seminary, but declined. I have 2 great uncles who are priests, a cousin who is a priest, an inlaw who is a priest, 2 great aunts who are nuns, a great aunt who was a mother superior and founder of a library program at a major Catholic university, and an inlaw who is an ex-nun. Believe me, I DO know the Catholic church... very well. Don't think I need to go take a quick class on it. Be happy to debate the Catholic church at any time. Not against it at all, but disagree with may of it's policies. Not a criticism, not a personal attack. Simply an observation.

My mom suffers from "Pain-in-the-ass" syndrome. It's a shame, really. Very debilitating.

Linda Carter always did that on WonderWoman when she was "Diana Prince" in the first season, which took place during world war 2. OK... OK I watched the show... a lot. Still do. Have it on DVD actually. As a kid, it was the only one of "my shows" my dad would watch with me. Not Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica, Ultraman, Incredible Hulk... none of them but Wonder Woman. Go figure.

OK... I am originally from Pittsburgh (or Pixburg as the natives call it) and folks do not realize how bad the accent is up there. Here's my favorite example. If I wanted to go to downtown Pittsburgh, to the Giant Eagle supermarket to buy some bologna, and I wanted to know if you'd like to come along... in Pittsburgh, I'd say: Hey, yinz guyz goin' like dahntahn dahn nair ta da gian-iggle ta git sum jumbo anat? Yinz wanna ride me dere?

Thanks you! I have a Vanguard Band... currently with 5.8 CCs in it, and unlikely to go any higher as I am within 30 lbs of goal, and am pretty well restricted.

I have a friend from years back, and she met this guy she wanted to marry. He was divorced, but it would be her first marriage. She wanted a catholic church wedding, but again, he was divorced. he applied fo an annulment, and was denied... afterall, he was married for 6 years and had two kids... how can you annul that, they said. He later donated $5000 to a papal charity fund... 2 weeks later that reconsidered his annulment and granted it. What does that make his kids? because now, in the eyes of the church, he was never married to their mother? Besides, what hipocracy!

Yeah, my doc is a stickler... it is one of the reason's I chose him... I like the discipline from him and his staff, as well as myself. I was PB'ing after my last fill, as it was too tight... felt like heartburn, then the smallest amount of food, and GAG. I generally try to be really careful, and haven't really had too many PB's. 2 months out, I had a terrible one on some salad (iceberg lettuce... still not my friend) and ever since, I am just plain careful about it. I'm far from the perfect bandster. Besides, you have done a great job yourself... had I been unfilled for more than a week, I'd regain 50 lbs... no kidding. the fact that you didn't gain much... well, you can be your own hero, or heroine, or heroin... yeah man!

GeezerSue... I read about that. My understanding was that their basis for adding it was to show how we were better than the "God-less" commies out there in the Soviet block.

My doc has 48 hours liquids, the 48 hours mushies, then move slowly back to solids... sort of like a mini version of post-surgical. As I mentioned once before, he actually has us sign a waiver agreeing to this after every fill... he likes to make sure we follow the rules!
  20. YEAH!!! THE THREAD IS BACK! Unfortunately, I have nothing to add. So is my sad life.:cry

I guess what I object to is using one's particular religion to force decisions onto others. Take stem cell research... I do understand that many faiths believe that life begins at conceptions... even if it happens in a petri dish. They are absolutely and wholeheartedly entitled to their opinion and belief on this, and I respect that wholeheartedly. However, I don't believe that, and to see the research limited due to someone else's beliefs, well I object to that. If you believe that, then do not partake of any benefits garnered from that research, but I don't think you should have the right to restrict me. You believe that, I don't, and for you to change laws based on your religion isn't fair to me. Should everyone in the US stop eating beef because Hindu's believe the cow is sacred? You'd say that is ridiculous, but it isn't to them. You see, ethical choices are controversial, and based frequently on religions and religious practices. No one religion has the right to force beliefs on others, Many disagree with this because this country was founded, generally by judeau-christians, and therefore they should rule above others. Let me elaborate further by going outside religion for a moment.. take PETA for example... they are against testing of animals AT ALL for any medical purposes... no matter what. Yet, the prosident of PETA is a diabetic, and takes artificial insulin... developed through animal testing, and is produced using animal products (in particular... horses). Isn't this contradictory? Religious beliefs in this manner do the same thing. I am NOT downplaying faith and religion... they are vital parts of many people's lives, but I have trouble when YOUR religion affects MY life. If you are against abortion... don't get one... if you are against stem cell research... don't partake of it's potential benefits (when and if they ever come)... Understand that the phrase "UNDER GOD" was NOT originally part of the pledge of allegience, but was added in the fifties in response to the cold war, and it is not a big deal to RETURN it to what was the original pledge...but on the other side of the coin, remember who founded this country, and don't have a hissy fit that "IN GOD WE TRUST" is on the money. Big deal, it is there because it has pretty much always been there, and displaying the 10 commandments at a courthouse... so what? It is an example of historic laws being handed down (probably the most well known declaration of law ever), not a declaration of religion's intrusion. Have your faith. Embrace it, make it part of your life, it is what defines part of you and that is an amazing thing... but remember, it may not be mine, so don't force it on me, I may believe differently, and that is what makes the US a great country, that we are all allowed this freedom. Let's not take that away by making one faith dictate things for the others. Just my 2 cents, please don't flame me over this. P

Scrambles eggs are OK, but only if lightly scrambled. If cooked until dry, then it is an issue. This means omlettes are out for me, but I can add stuff to the scrambled eggs. Fried eggs....never in the AM, but occasionally I can in the evening for dinner. Not bready muffins, but if like a cornmeal muffin, I can if I eat only a little, and eat it slowly... they are more like cake, and that is a doable texture... bread texture, like a biscuit or bagel... no way.
