Hello everyone!

I am 3 weeks post op ane have lost 35 lbs but im having a biiig problem and have no idea what to do. I am losing my hair at a really really rapid rate. Everytime I touch it, wash it, brush it, or comb it chunks of hair fall out. I read before I had surgery that this would happen and to make sure you keep your Protein up. I have anywhere between 75-85 grams a day and im taking ALL of my Vitamins. What can I do to slow this down? I turned 25 in June and already have a bald spot :( please help!

It's totally normal. Your body is reacting to fast weight loss. Biotin really does work.

I would go see a dermatologist. That's what I did. He told me your body goes into a kind of shock with rapid weight loss and loosing hair is a symptom. However, you are still very early in the game. I didn't start loosing hair until about 6 months post op. It took about another 6 months for it to stop. Good luck!

Thank you all for the advice! I went to the store and got Biotin shortly after reading the posts. I have been taking in 75-85g of Protein so I know thats not the problem but I have my first fill tomorrow so I'm gonna talk to my doctor then :) THANK YOU ALL!!

My hair is also falling out like crazy. Your body also goes through shock from anesthesia which causes Hair loss. It should start coming back in soon!

I had the same problem. I also lost really fast. It stopped for a while, and my hair grew back, and it's unfortunately been happening a little bit again, but not too noticeably. I think it's just how it goes when you lose quickly. I've not taken any supplements for it, but I have heard that you can take Biotin, yes.

I've notice a BIG difference taking biotin!!! I also had Hair loss due to a hypothyroid. My hair hasn't looked this good in years!!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
