Recommended Posts

Hello, I had my lap band Sept 14. Thinking way ahead...did any of you get your Tummy Tuck approved by insurance? If so, how? Thanks! :)

Most, if not all, insurances do not cover cosmetic surgery of any kind unless infections are the reason behind it. If you are prone to infections be sure to keep a journal of what you did each time and go to your PCP each time. There are probably other issues that are paid for, but as a general rule no.

Good luck! More power to you if you can get it approved...1

I just had my plastic surgery consult yesterday. I am having a terrible time with rashes under my tummy. The PS said that if the insurance were to pay for anything it would be a panniculectomy (removal of the hanging skin) but not a full TT (where they would tighten the whole abdomen and suture the abdominal muscles for a tighter appearance). So now my PCP, dermatologist and PS are going to submit info to my insurance company for approval. I have a years worth of paper trail and now photos. My PS said it was good that I had a "rip roarin' rash" because that is what insurance wants to see. It may take a few weeks for approval so I am pretty anxious.

Good luck and congrats on your new life with the band!

Katie:

If you have trouble getting approval ask Dr. G. if he can look at the letter that Arthur wrote that helped me get approved. Of course there were very embarassing pictures involved too, but it was worth it for the cost savings.

I hope you liked Dr. H. I think she's great and very personable. She has a good bedside manner too.

Best wishes for a quick approval for you.

Take care.

Sue

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
