Recommended Posts

Hey Everyone,

I really dont know how to use this computer or if Im posting my concerns the right way, but Im in desprate need of someone to talk t6o about what to expect after my nov 3, 2011 surgery date. If anyone has time to talk to me, please call my cell phone @ 313-269-6697. Im getting some help at my dr's but most of the ladies at the last meeting either had a sleeve or the open bariatric stomach surgery and cant really get an answer to questions like , how much will I be able to swallow the first time I drink after surgery, or will I feel tight in my stomach or chest after surgery, and will I get super thirsy and dehydrated? I also want to know if I will reach a point where I am unbearably hungry, or will the liquid drinks sufficient . I just really want to connect with someone to help me calm my fears. Someone (or everyone) LOL! please call me or send me an email. My email adress is karrsautomotive @ wowway.com. thank you guys in advance and I hope to hear from you soon. Katie in Michigan

I'm not a girl, but I'll see what I can do. To begin with, the surgery is really easy,

all you have to do is show up with your PJs and slippers. They do all the rest.

When you're all finished, you go home and try to walk as much as you can

to prevent the slim chance of blood clots and get rid of the gas they use in surgery.

Some people have a problem with it, I didn't and you may not.

You'll be told to drink as much of 64 oz a day as you can to stay

hydrated and to help with bowel movements. You'll probably have a little sore throat

from the intubation device they use to help you breath during surgery. It'll go away

in a few days. You'll probably get pretty hungry the first few weeks, but it diminishes

slowly. It isn't as bad as some make it out to be. It does take a bit of will power,

but it's like being on a diet with help with your hunger. After your fills, it won't be

as much of a problem. Don't worry about too much, just think what you'll look

like 100 lbs lighter. Best of luck to you.

Hi Katie,

I am Karen. I had my surgery 2 years ago, come Sunday, Oct 30. I didn't take anything with me, but had my husband hold my slippers and the hospital gave me a robe and supplies to take home. I had a lot of gas in my shoulder, but had some pain meds and walked alot. I had to spend the night per my insurance coverage. I was up about 6 times during the stay. Sip your drinks and eat the Jello if they offer it. I will friend you so you can contact me. Karen

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
