Does it matter HOW I lose pre-op?

Recommended Posts

I am on this stupid pre-op and I don't get it. It's basically low carb/low fat. Can I just do my own thing as long as I lose weight? I see lots of people doing just low card. Can't I just do that? I am not trying to be difficult, but it's hard with the VERY boring menu choices. I ended up making egg drop Soup this morning for Breakfast instead of the fruit and Protein.< /p>

I can do the no carbs/low cal, I just hate the monotony. I guess I probably am following it, but broth wasn't on the list, but it's carb free/low cal/low fat. Shouldn't that be sufficient? I don't mind following a regime, I will have to after the surgery, I just hate the same thing OVER AND OVER again :(

my surgeon said that this is a good way to get used to the liquid diet because after each fill you will have to be on a liquid diet anyway. i have to be on the liquid pre op for 2 weeks and that includes thanksgiving. what the heck. no thanksgiving for me this year :( . good luck and take it one day at a time.

Call your doctor and ask if you can switch it up and then follow what they say! Good Luck!

My pre op diet was 4 oz of chicken breast, a cup of lettuce with vinegar or lemon juice and 1/2 cup of raw vegetables. Honestly, I HATED eating that everyday for 2 weeks...so blah and boring. But what can you do? It's what we signed up for! Stick to the diet, you'll be so proud of yourself.

I was told, broth, Popsicles, sugar free Jello and pudding, tea, Protein Powder drinks made with Water (yuck)

and sugar free, noncarbinated drinks were fine. I lost about 25 lbs. on that stuff. It wasn't very enjoyable

but the doctor seemed happy with it. You're going to have to do lots of things you won't especially like,

but in the long run it'll be worth it.

You need to get your body into ketosis so its burning your bodyfat for fuel and in turn shrinking the liver.

Your attitude is half the battle. SO call it stupid and convince yourself you are bored and you are half way there to making the band fail for yourself. The over induldgeing got us to be where we are today. You had all the food you wanted to in the past. Turn over a new leaf. Find recipies within the diet. Do everything your physicam wants you to do. Stick to it and the end result will be worth it.

I started my pre-op diet today. So far I have drank two chocolate Protein shakes - one with banana and the other with Peanut Butter. I am allowed one low fat - low sugar snack of pudding, yogurt, or Gelatin. For dinner, I will eat 1 cup of broth based Soup. I'm looking forward to the Soup.< /span>

It's my first day and I'm miserable but I'm determined to stick with it because in the end it will be worth it.

My pre-op diet starts officially on Nov 8th but I think I'm going to start the 1st b/c I seem to have gained weight since my appointment so i need to lose like 15 pounds before surgery on nov 22. my diet is this

1 Protein shake with Water in AM

1 Protein Shake with Water for lunch

3 ounces of lean meat w/ green veggies, no butter

She said I could also have clear broth and sugar free popsicles as needed.

I wonder how much weight I'll lose with three weeks of this diet. My current weight is about 363 and I'm 5'11.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
