I was just banded on Monday. The first day was the worst. I had a lot of nausua and dry heaving when trying to drink anything. The next day got better. I was able to drink full liquids and keep them down. Today, I'm doing even better. Still very sore and having problems getting up and down, but I feel more like myself. My first check up appt. is scheduled for Oct. 24. Good luck to everyone who is having surgery this week. The pain meds they gave me really helped and the prescription they sent me home with is helping. Just makes me sleepy.

I'm having my surgery tomorrow and go home the same day. I'm a self-pay patient and my BMI is 32. My goal is to lose 55lbs and keep it off forever - I've been an extreme yo-yo dieter for 25 years. My wife is getting the band next week.

I'm on Day 2 of my 48 hour pre-op liquid diet and it is certainly not fun. I'm not looking forward to the next 14 days of this. I'm both nervous and excited about my surgery tomorrow. I really just want to get it over with!

I lost 45lbs about 1 1/2 years ago and have gained 35lbs of it back. I had my suits that I wear to work taken in by my tailor after I lost weight and now none of them fit me. I have to lose about 17lbs for them to start fitting me again - and that is my first goal. I'd love to reach this goal by Nov 14, which is when I come back to my office from my next business trip.

Hi All-

Hoping I can slide into your chat! I was technically a September bandster (September 29th)

It has really been easy sailing so far, and this is without any pain meds. It turns out I am allergic to most narcotics so this was done oh natural. The gas pains in my neck and shoulders were horrendous, but I can thankfully say they are gone!

I find my problem has been that I have not found my self full over the past few days. I am following the diet from my doctor and started pureed food today, and the 2-3 tablespoon portions are not cutting it. I am also yo-yoing with weight. About 10 down since surgery, but I go up a lb and down, but not lower than 10 yet. Frustrating. I am wondering if this all will just be the way it is until my first fill...??

Good luck to everyone!

Welcome Aboard ! Do you belong to myfitnesspal.com ? If not you should. It's free, and you can keep track of all your intake, and exercise, and more.

It takes the guess work out of how much you ate. You will be able to make the adjustments yourself, and it will calculate.

Could be Water. It will kick in eventually. First fill is not a Miracle Worker, unless you get a big one. It usually takes a few to feel restriction.

So in the meantime, you can keep track on the site I gave you.

Good Health to you, Shirley.

Banded on October 11th. Home now, still drinking my pain med and feeling much better today. I am drinking some of my Protein Shake now and will follow with some juice. trying ot figure out the liquid options for the next week or so. I am scared to take a shower with my stictches so I have to figure this part out. Scared to take off the bandages... I am so positive. Funny how all these people I read are already cheating and going back to old habbits. What the heck people!!!

I have some film over my bandages and my nurse told me not to take them off until they are falling off LOL I'm like ok I had surgery on the 6th and this stuff is still sticky. WOW I go to the doctor on Monday to get my staples out. I have lost 2lbs since surgery! I get to eat mushy stuff today so I'm having a scrabled egg with a lil salsa (no chuncks) in it! Oh does it taste good.

Hey everyone! I start my Pre-Op on this thursday and I was wondering what your days were llike...eating/drinking wise...

It was not easy but not hard. Just get liquids you like and keep track on the fridge of Calories. I was on a 1000 cal diet. I bought my shakes at Coscto and organic Soups in the box. I loved cream of Tomato, Mushroom and onion. Nothing in them but liquid. Low fact v8 fruit juice, sugar free ice pops, crystal light cherry and some other stuff. I was allowed a lean cusisine under 300 calories ( included in the 1000 daily) on the third day until the sencond to last and last day before OP. Good Luck, I would suggest having one meal of a juicy steak and whatever you like as well before or 1 day in. I also quit smoking so It was hard for me but I did it and now I am 2 days out and soar but so positive for the outcome!! Good Luck and remember the end result.

Hello October Bandsters. I thought I would start us a post-op group now that we are getting ready to start out second week of banders. I know we are all going to do GREAT. We will all be loosers this month!!!! If you are having a bad day dont hold it in. This is where we can let it out. If we stick together we will go far. We can do this ladys and gents. I know we can. Set a goal for yourself and let everyone know what it is so we can help each other meet that goal.

My goal is to walk/run a 5k by one year post op. I hope to meet that before then but I am not going to pressure myself to meet a goal that is not realistic. I know myself and if I set goals I cant meet I will give up.

Good luck to all of you.

I am with you on the 5k run. I used to (the key words here are used to) run alot and would love to again. I am looking to run in a Fisher House Charity 5k next November. That will be 1 year 1 month post-op for me (as long as I make my appointment on Monday)

Good luck!

Well I'm on the other side :) I had a micro laproscopic procedure done. There is only liquid stitches and 4 scabs are about the size of a eraser of a pencil. My belly button is not looking so pretty though. That is where she put my port, and I wonder if maybe fixed a hernia, I am super sore there.

Luckily I'm not hungry. Thirsty as all get out though! My lip got cut and throat pretty torn up from the tubing. I am excited to start this new way of eating and lets not forget shopping for smaller clothes!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
