Hey LBT family!!! I'm sure there is a post on this somewhere but thought I'd ask anyways!!!! What did you take/ plan on taking to the hospital with you???

so far my list is:

• slippers
  
• pillow
• hair bands
• bottled Water for ride home
• gas-x strips

I'm open for any suggestions and ideas!!!!

Honestly, on surgery day I came with nothing! Just myself & the clothes on my body (oh and my pillow.) The hospital has everything. You will have leg warmers & the little squeezer things on your legs that keep them SUPER warm. Good luck, I wish you great success!

Some of these are pretty obvious, so forgive me if I sound patronising - it's not intentional!

I took:

sick bags (like those you get on the plane - sorry, but it's good to have them, just in case!);

baby wet wipes;

a lovely fresh body spray;

little radio;

phone;

slippers;

all personal bath/shower stuff; (I had to have a shower when I arrived at the clinic, but was not allowed to apply moisturisers of any sort, so put some on later post-op when I felt better.)

earplugs - the clinic was a bit noisy;

some emergency cash/credit card.

I'll let you know if I think of anything else.

Chapstick. My lips were so dry after surgery.

If you have sleep apnea, don't forget your cpap machine. Also if it is an overnight stay, bring something to do. I brought my laptop. Most hospitals have wifi.

I took a pair of PJs because after surgery I did not want to put my jeans on so I took my PJs and some socks and put them on for the ride home. I also took some foundation (makeup) because I could not have any make up on during surgery. (that is just me I like at least some powder or foundation on) I could not have fingernail or toenail polish on either so you might check if you have to take any off before you go. The most important thing is that pillow for the ride home, not to lay your head on but to hold against your tummy in case of bumps, rail road tracks, I used it for several days when walking outside.

Also take your meds that you normally take before surgery as they will not give you these at hospital. You might want to check with you Doctor about this as yours may say something different. I took my anxiety, antidepressant and blood pressure and Thyroid meds in the morning before I left home as per my surgeon.

I would also talk to your regular Dr about a prescription of antibiotics for bladder infection. I got hit with a very bad bladder infection just a couple of days later due to things put up inside you during surgery. Then you do not have to go to Dr while you are recovering. My Surgeon said it is very common to leave with some type of infection sad to say. @ of my friends with different Doctors and different hospitals experience the same.

Also some people like to take a camera to document the experience. The person that took me brought out a camera and said well when do start taking pictures as to which i told her to had over the camera and I would give it back to her when she took me home, no pictures. but that is just me you may like to do that.

I was very glad to have a pair of loose fitting, long pants so I didn't have to hold that stupid gown closed when I walked anywhere.

Well, tomorrow is THE day! I'm taking my pillow, comfy slippers, soft pants/shirt, Gas X and my chapstick.

I will be banded on 9/30. I will be taking some slippers, chapstick, gown, pillow, socks, extra undies, insurance info, camera, and toiletries.

I took a lightweight robe to keep my fanny cover while walking the halls, slippers, hairbrush, toothbrush and paste, deodorant since I couldn't put any on the morning of the surgery, chapstick and my cell phone. I used everything.

Believe it or not, just for safety take your INS. CARDS !

I was banded 10/31, spent the night and the next day started the month of November. Well Billing called my room, and told me I had No Coverage..... ( I told them I did.) They said you have until 9:00 A.M. to clean out, or you will be Billed for the day. My Husband brought the cards down, got me packed, and we were on are way out when the phone rang.
