Have You Reached Your Goal Weight?
Hi there. I had my surgey on Sept 30, 2011 (which makes me 8 1/2 month or so post op) an I have lost roughly 60 lbs. it is definitely without struggle. I know that I can douch better, but I fell Iike I have been a success to lose what I have. I have my slip up days and then I realize that I have done wrong, pray about it, and move on. We all are different with different body type. I started out at 307 and now I am at 245. I gain a lb and lose a pound sometimes. That is a part of the weight lose journey. Nothing magical was expected over night, so please anticipate the hard time and the struggle. I put an expectation to lose my next 45 lbs to be a year or so away. If I accomplish it by next summer than I am doing great, but if not I will continue to press on. Stay positive and set small goals that you know you can accomplish and build on them.

Is This Normal ? Feel Too Normal Inside After Lap Band Surgery
Perfectly normal. I do still feel nothing at times until I lay on my stomach. That is the one thing that I am not capable of doing yet. If feels like I am putting pressure on my port when I do that. Otherwise, I feel nothing and I like it that way.

Heeeelp......
Walking helped me with the gas pressure and I had a lot of discomfort from it. Some people will recommend the GAS X strips, but those did not help me at all. The hunger will pass as your move from the liquids to the mushies. Try not to focus on the discomfort at the moment. It will get better I promise. I went through the same emotional and discomfort rollercoster and things are better. I went through the why the heck did I do this to myself and wanting to eat the house up, but trust me things get better. Try to do some walking and see if that helps.

Encouragement please .... only 1 fill no results
I was ready and then nervous myself when I got closer to my surgery date. The next day after surgery I was all emotional becuase I could not eat and wondered what I have gotten myself into, but things do get better. You will not be vomiting and vomiting is definitely not a good thing if it should happen. Everyone has a different journey and your journey will ne unique to you. Choosing to get the LapBand surgery is a good thing, but rapid weight loss is not what you are going to experience, so try not to compare yourself to everyone on this sight. I have defitinely slowed down in the weight loss department, but staying hydrate and eating the right things is what you should stay focused on the most. I know that you will read a lot of things on here that will share you, but having a band in to the horror that you read. Once you pass the first week you will feel like your old self again and will not know that you have a band at all. I was weak the first week, but went back to work 10 days after surgery (that varies for each person) because I drive a school bus. If you follow the guidlines set by your doctor you will be fine. Try not to stress the small stuff. Oh, Protein is definitely a plus, so make sure that you are getting enough of that and plwnty of Water. Make sure that you take your Vitamins. If you have any other questions or if I can be of any helo, please feel free to drop me a line.

Encouragement please .... only 1 fill no results
Try not to beat yourself up too bad over it. I was banded on 9/30/11 and between then and now, I have lost 32 lbs. I try to walk and exercise as often as I can, but my doctor is strict on the 4-6 weeks with no heavy exercising. I have not lost any in the last two weeks and I had my first fill on 10/27/11. I also feel like I am able to consume a little more than what I did before, but I am not worried because I am using my fitness pal and still falling way short of my calorie intake. Sometimes instead of seeing a change in weight, we may be losing it in inches. Make sure that you are staying hydrated and getting your vitamins and proteins. Everyone is correct in saying that it takes time for the green area of restricting. I am being patient and thanking my lucky stars for the weight that I have lost thus far.

When do I need to eat more?
I tried Tomato soup and couldn't eat it. Tasted like hot Katsup. I opted for Mashed potatoes today two days early because I was hungry (big mistake). I walked and felt like I had to throw up 3 times. Finally after the third time I burped like the Exercist. It finally bought me some relief after 1/2-45 mins of pain.

Where are you from?

Who didnt have gas pain
I am not the exception. I am still having gas and I'm post op day 6. I had some relief, but I think the skim milk brought it back. I had some mashed potatoes when I shouldn't have and I'm suffering for it now.

Help, I am hungry
Omg chicken casserole? When did you get banded? I ate some mashed potatoes about 5 minutes ago and I'm not suppose to until Saturday. I know that was wrong, but I feel your hunger pains. I'm not getting my Proteins like I need to, but I'm trying. I hope that things better for the both of us. Cece Banded 9/30/11

When do I need to eat more?
Hi, I am Post Op day 6 and I swear I'm not eating enough to stay alive. The skim milk makes me fill bloated and I use it o mix my proteins. I think I am afraid to eat because I don't know if i have gas or am full. I am sticking to the full liquid, but had some mashed potatoes because I was hungry. A few bites and had to stop. Dont want to over do it because im not suppose to have them until Saturday. I can't even do 2 oz most of the time. I am getting enough water, but slow on the protein. Getting the vitamins in though. Is this normal?

What do you want to do when your skinny (or thinner)
simply put: Im going to the Bahamas

Neurotic!
I can understand how you all fill. I am on Post Op Day 3 and I am super hungry around mid-day. I am on liquids and full liquid, which seem not to help at all. I had some broth for breakfast, protein shake for snack. Yogurt for lunch and I am starving at 4:10. I will probably do cream of chicken for dinner. I am looking forward to an egg on Saturday.
-
Laxative or Not?
I am Post Op Day 3 and I have no problems going. My doctor recommended Colace (stool softner) starting today. If you are really unsure, I would call my doctor for advice.

Ladies .....Maybe a stupid question but
I am Post Op Day 3 and I have not tried to wear a bra. This is because I have an incision that is right where my bra would be. I have preferred wearing gowns for now and no PJs. Dont want to irritated the incisions at all.

What is a normal day of eating like for you?
I am Post Op Day 3 and my eating is minimal. I am often afraid that I will over eat. I had my first proteing shake today, broth, and now yogurt. I can say that I am hungry most of the time, but this will vary by person. I am looking forward to saturday because I get to have grits or eggs. YAH!!!

Day 2 of pre-op liquid diet and ?'s...
I agree that all doctors are different and I am see that now. I am having surgery tomorrow and I have only done pre-op diet for 3 days. 1 day was high protein and low carb and two days of liquid diet. I understand the hunger, but I am grateful that I did not have to do days of this. I dont have the protein shakes and all of that. I get sugar free jello, broth, all the water that I want, and crystal light juice packs. I can say that I am starving to death here, but glad that surger is 13 hours away.
