Why such little weight loss??
I use sparkpeople.com to track my food and I under 1000 calories every day, it's usually 600- 900 calories a day. I haven't talk to the doctor yet I see him Friday, so I guess lets see what he says.

Why such little weight loss??
So I am almost 3 weeks post op and I eat very little. I get full quickly and stop eating. I notice that I am still not losing much weight. I figured if I'm eating 1/4 of the calories I use to so I should be losing weight. I'm following my portion sizes and most of the food suggestions, the doctor has given me, but still the weight loss is way way slow. I've lost 17 lb total from start of the pre op diet and until now which is about 4 weeks of eating completely differently. I know I shouldn't complain, I'm just wondering what difference a fill is gonna make. I'm not hungry as is and I'm not eating more then I should, so when I get a fill and I gonna be eating even less?? I thought I understood this whole process, but I'm starting to feel like I'm missing something? Any words of wisdom out there would be greatly apprieciated, Thank you ! Nicole

October Bandsters!!!
Maybe ask your doctor cause it might be different. Mine is 32 oz protien shake divided up into eight times a day, which turns into 4 oz 8 times a day. Right now its very hard for me to get all that in, but that will change in due time. I'd check with your doctor just like not everyones pre op diets were the same either. Good luck !

October Bandsters!!!
I had my surgery Oct 6 th and it went as it should. The pain meds they gave me in were not initially working and the nurses finally started listening after I got real nasty with them. Other then that everything in the hospital was good. My biggest complain is the gas OMG THE GAS!!!!! I'm 4 days post op and it's still killing me! It travels around my lungs and it make fill like I can't breath at times. I have used Gas X and walked and walked and walked a ton, but it's still trapped. I pray every day and night to just burp or fart and get it out already. Otherwise I feel pretty good, my insicion where my port is is really the only sore spot, so I super happy about that. I am finding it very hard to get in all the Water and Protein shake my doctor said I should be drinking. 64 oz of water and 32 oz of Protein shakes. I find this hard at the point, maybe when more swelling goes down I'll do better. How about everyone else any problems getting your water and protein shakes in for the day?

your pain after surgery
The day of surgery was terrible for me. The pain meds were not working for me and I damn near ripped a nurses head off. After they realized I wasn't kidding around they upped the dosage, and I was better not pain free but I would say around a 3 or 4 on a scale of 1 - 10. I found the absoulute worst thing was the gas not the actual insicions. I had surgery Oct 6th so I'm 4 days post op and I still have terrible trapped gas in my chest and stomach which can make it really hard to breath at times. I've used Gas X and walked and walked and walked and still I'm in pain with the gas. I haven't taken any pain meds since Friday night so I'm healing good and feeling sore but everyday gets better. I find that if I keep a heating pad on the stomach and chest the gas is at bay but as soon as I take it off it's there again. Good luck to you I'm sure C-section recovery is far worse, but I don't know all my babies were born vaginally, and that was a breeze for me.

I'm getting banded tomorrow !!
So tomorrow it's my turn to get banded. I'm strangely kinda calm and relaxed. I guess because I already had my flip out a few days prior, but I'm shore I'm gonna get nervous and have another flip out when they are bringing my into surgery. So please everyone pray for me that eveything goes perfect and I have great experience. I won't be home until Friday because the doctor requires banders to stay overnight in the hospital but I will let you know how everything goes when I get home ! Good luck to all the others getting banded tomorrow and there after !

Any banders out there with lupus? Have you had any problems?
I was diagnosised in June with mild Lupus, according to the doctor. I have not been on any medications for it as of yet and pray I never will. I get bloodwork done every 3 months to check my Lups levels. After being banded did you have any problems with your Lupus that may have been a direct result of the Lupus? Are you still losing weight or have lost your desired amount of weight. My doctors say I will be fine, and especially since I'm not even of medication for my Lupus, but I can't help wonder if getting banded will aggravate the Lupus. I get banded tommorrow and I'm been on my pre op diet since that Thursday and I'm starting to get weak, tired and achey. I'm not sure if it's from lack of food and my is freaking out or my Lupus flairing up? Any advice or personal experiences would be appreiciated. Thank you!

Diet Soda Addict
I too was a major diet soda addict. I would drink 9-10 cans of soda a day from the time I woke up until right before bed. This was also one of my biggest fears because I LOVED SODA. I know its really sad, but it was like a drug, that I had to have. To tell you the truth I had to just stop cold turkey, I've been off it for a month and it's still in my house my husband drinks it every night with dinner, and I will have Water or 4c light tea to go. It was real hard in the begining, but now it doesn't even phase me. Weird right?!?! All I can say is think about all that you are trying to change with yourself. Soda is just one of many obstacles that you are gonna come across, and I look at it like this.... Are we gonna let (fill in blank) stop us from feeling the way we want to feel, looking how we want to look??? NO we need to stand up and put us first and be rid of all the bad thinking and decisions that have put us were we are today. Take it one day at a time and maybe you can't go cold turkey but try to reduce the amount you drink each day until you get down to none and then stick with it, you'll get there it sometimes takes a lot of time. Good Luck !

Seminar to Surgery - How Long?
For me it was 3 months, all the doctor appointments were and testing and follow up took time. I was lucky though cause I had a really flexible schedule. Another girl I met it took her almost a year cause she worked 2 jobs and never had much time off. I United Healthcare there was no waiting period in my contract.
