What insurance? Wait 4 approval?

If you are fortunate enough to have insurance that will pay for the surgery, what kind do you have and how long did it take to get approved?

I have tricare. It took about a month to get approved. Good luck on your journey.

I have Aetna EPO. 1 week!

I have Empire BCBS, my first consult was 7/28, I saw all my pre-op Drs, and had my surgery this past Tuesday 9/27. My friend has GHI, and they are making her weigh in for 6 months before considering her

I did everything they asked. I submitted my request on a Wednesday and had approval Thursday, very next day.

Shout out to Nilsa.

I have Aetna

took 2 weeks for approval,

and was approved 1st time.

Did a 3 month diet and the other stuff required!

Aetna. They required a three month supervised diet for me. Once everything was submitted insurance took 3 days for approval. Surgery was two weeks later! It went by fast for me.

I have PCIP, it took 1month and 1/2.

Well I have BC/BS of Alabama and although my paperwork has not been submitted because I have to do a 6 month diet, Dr. T said it would only take a couple of days and he would have me a surgery date!!! Now if I could just get through these 6 months of anticipation.

BCBS OF ALABAMA (PEEHIP) i sumbitted paperwork on Friday 9/24 and was approved on Monday 9/26 and I had surgery on that Friday 9/30.

I have Aetna, did a 4 month supervised diet and once everything was submitted I got an approval within a week and a half.

I have Tufts it was a 6 month program called "I can change". Im pretty sure they want you to think "i can change my mind about surgery" I had to have phone interviews every month with my advisor. It was fine as my hospitals program was required and it was the same amount of time. Just funny. Once I graduated approval was immediate.

Thanks for all the replies! Hope everyone is doing good! I'm just anxious about how long approval will take.

My husbands insurance was through the local Pipefitter and Plumbers Union. I did not have any pre-evaluations, pre-approvals, or anything. As long as you had been with the Union for over 5 years they pay 100% of my surgery and everything. There was no waiting at all, just scheduling of the surgery! Lovin' my insurance
