August Bandsters Did you get your 2nd Fill Yet?

Recommended Posts

I was scheduled for my first fill today & discussed it with the Dr that I didn't feel I needed one. He agreed since I have been consistent with my weight loss & to come back in 4 weeks. I'm wanting to hold out as long as I can since I'm currently satisfied with my progress. I do have some restriction in my 14 cc band without any fills. I call it my leash because it definitely will rein me back in if I go too far.

I had my 2nd fill yesterday Oct. 3. The PA added .5 cc. At surgery on Aug. 11, the doc filled it with 5cc. I have a 10cc band. I'm now at 5.5 cc and I have lost 20lbs. Since surgery. I did notice right before my 2nd fill I was able to eat more and getting hungy more often. Now I'm right at my Sweet Spot, I get satisfied on just a little amount and eat 3x a day, Breakfast is always a Protein Shake so really I'm just eating 2 regular meals a day. I have never been stuck (knock wood) and can eat almost anything. I just can't eat alot of it.

I was banded 8/1/11. I got my first fill of 3cc on 9/15/11. I could tell a difference, but I am totally ready for my 2nd fill. It is set for 10/20/11. I feel like I can eat more than I should. I do get full and definitely can't eat like I used to, but I would feel comfortable with more restriction.

What is the liquid capacity a band can hold?? 10cc's? I now have 3 cc's and I go back in 4 weeks. If I am losing weight I dont know if my doctor will give me a fill. He thinks all is good if the weight is coming off!

I have a 14cc band

Surgery was Aug 14th (14cc band), first fill was Sept 8th with 3cc, 2nd fill Oct 4th 2cc added. Wondering if I am still swollen or not. I stuck with liquids till tonight and grabbed one of my toddlers plates and put a little dinner on there. I got that yucky feeling (like someone punching you HARD in your chest!), so I started chewing a bit more and then I just quit eating. Maybe its due to swelling but hoping its some restriction :) We will see what the next few days hold. But I tell you what, I'm getting those sweet tooth cravings, but remembering how painful things were earlier is keeping my hand away from my mouth!:P

Hi all,

my surgey was 8/15/11. My first fill was 9/8 and it was 1cc i felt no restriction so i went back on 9/20 and had .5cc put it and i have been losing weight but mostly due to will power because i feel zero restriction and im always hungry. I go back 10/11 and hopefully it helps.

Had my 3rd fill on Saturday, I'm up to 9ccs in a 14. Back on solids today and I'm not really feeling much. I did lose between my 2nd and 3rd fill, and felt some restriction, but it went away by sat and so far today I don't really feel a difference :( first fill was 4cc, 2nd 4ccs, third 1cc. Ugh. The first couple days after fill #2 felt different than today after #3. I thought I would have more restriction but don't feel anything.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
