Stomach Virus...

Recommended Posts

OMGoodness.. My 16 month old baby brought home a stomach bug. Now I have it and feel like crap. I took her to the doctor Friday because she ran a fever for 3 days and they said it is going around like crazy in the Mesquite (Dallas) area.

I've had 1/2 a tv dinner and a Protein Shake today that's all I can handle. I've been drinking enough just to get by. This so sucks.

Anyone else have this?

I had it and went to the emergency and told them about the band. they gave me an injection to stop vomiting and tablets to stop the other end. Dont let yourself start puking you dont want to risk slipping. Hope you feel better soon.

Carrie,

I agree with Kelly - IF you start vomiting, go get an injection to stop it. Frequent vomiting can cause the band to slip.

Last spring I caught a stomach bug. I only had diarrhea - VERY nauseated, but never vomited. Probably lasted longer then it should since it was having a had time leaving my system through one end.:phanvan

I liked the final results... I lost about 6 permanent pounds!

Yeah that's pretty much my main complaint. I threw up once, but it's been diarrhea the whole time and nausea.

If I vomit anymore I will definately call my surgeon and get his opinion. I can handle the other end. My daughters pedi said that the runs with this virus is lasting 7-10 days!!!

I had it 3 weeks ago, lasted 4 days, then it was gone 4 days and then came back for 4 days. Now my kids have it and they had flu shoots?? But with my kids it's comeing out both ends, with me I was just real dizzy, temp, aches, no energy and a cough.

It sucks!

We had a stomach virus here in Arkansas about a month ago that was so bad in 1 county it actually made the 5 o'clock news. I stayed far away from town cause it was the county next to mine & we live right on the line. Scary!! Take care! Hope you get to feeling better soon! Drink plenty fluids! It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to get a prescription of phenergan suppositories to keep on hand. For all of us!

I dont know about there but here Flu shots prevent influenza - which is mainly a respiratory disease. They wont prevent gastro at all.

Three days after I got home from hospital after getting my band my oldest son started vomiting and it became obvious we had a bug in the household. G-r-o-a-n. He was right by next day and son no. 2 started up. I went straight to the doctor and got a script for some anti nausea medication, which I held off taking until Doug started chucking too. Given we sleep in the same bed I thought I was a goner so I started taking my medication. I felt like utter crap for a few days but couldnt figure out if it was the medication or whether I was sick, and the anticipation of getting sick and vomiting was way worse than the actual event could have been, lol. Anyway I had a night of having hot flushes which I think was fever so I'd say I had the bug and didnt get the vomiting. Given that it was going round everywhere and I didnt contract it later either I'd say the medication worked for me. I've got plenty of it left to keep for future cases.

My surgeon told me that if I get nauseated and someone I've been around has the stomach flu, I should go to the ER anad get an anti-nausea shot right away...not wait to start vomiting.

Wow it might be worth a call to Myra tomorrow to see what she thinks, so far I have vomited once, it's still all lower end issues.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
