I have a questions for the ladies of the group. Sorry men!! I just started my period today and my surgery is scheduled for Wednesday the 12th. Do you think this will stop the surgery from happening?

Hi - I asked the exact same question yesterday at pre-op and the nurse said it would make no difference. Good luck this week!

Just wanted to wish all October bandsters luck. I know many of us will be starting our pre-op diet today. My surgery is the 6th and I start my diet thursday. We have all worked hard to get here and our journey has started. I know we will all do great.

Thanks Amy Rose...Happy to hear you had your surgery on the 6th. I go in on the 17th!

I am on day 12 (i started a few days early too) and I am actually having what seems to be the opposite of others in the way of problems w/ the shake diet. I started out with 4 shakes and plenty of fresh veggies, now I am not hungry enought to do more than 2 shakes and I am eating very little if any veggies. I am simply not hungry. I know I need to get in the Protein, and I actually do like the shakes I have, but wow there is no urge to eat at all. Anyone else have this?

I introduced myself awhile back. Since then I've been lurking, learning and reading lots. I received my authorization last week. I'm scheduled for Oct 27. I have only told a select few friends. It's odd to me that they are all so quick to tell me horror stories that they've heard or tell me about a friend of a friend of a friend who didn't succeed. I KNOW that if I work this tool properly I WILL be successful.

I'm glad there is a place like this on the web. Good luck to everyone.

one of my friends did the same thing, Also bringing it up in group settings where I really didnt want to dabate with her. Other friends are fine, I think they thought she was being rude.

like you say I WILL be successful.

I had my surgery on the 7th  and yes I had the same thing... I did a pre-op of shakes and bars for 17 days and was supposed to have 7shakes and 2 bars a day. The last few days I wasn't hungry at all and only ended up having 3 shakes and one bar... as long as you're still eating something then I wouldn't be too worried. It helped me unintentionally because I knew I wasn't going to be eating a lot after surgery... Hopefully this helped! Good Luck on your Journey!!!!!!!!

Hi, I haven't chatted for a while. I finally got my surgury date . 'it is the 26th, and pre-op class on the 20th. I already had have all of my other pre-op testing done. The do only put me on a 2 day diet. Lucky me. I have been tryying out several portein shakens. The only ones that don;t make me sick are the soy products. I use unflavored and add crysal lite or something fruity. I can't have most milk products. Does anyone else use Soy Protein Powder? ? Rebecca

Yep ! All the time... Try MUSCLE MILK LIGHT IN POWDER FORM. Its Lactose Free, and a Soy Product.

I habe a site on line that I buy from, with a lot of flavors AllStarHealth.com Most are under $19.00 and $5.95 to ship.

It's well worth it ! I been drinking it for 7 years now, so I like a variety, and I get it through them.

195 calories, 25 G Protein. 2 scoops per 8 oz. shake.< /p>

I buy the chocolate milk instead of chocolate. It tastes like Chocolate Milk, and their Chocolate is not as good as the Chocolate Milk.

So I use the Chocolate Milk for both reasons: Chocolate Milk Shake, Chocolate to do what I want with.

Contact me, and I will tell you what is really good in their shakes.< /p>

Also check out Ivydeals on ebay for cheap prices on stuff. That's another connection.

Shirley.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
