Newly banded and sleep

Recommended Posts

Became a banded chic 8/19/11 yay!! Still having slight discomfort. What were some comfortable ways to sleep? I generally sleep on my stomach but feel the port and some pain if I do that now. I have gas issues right now too. Maybe a way to alleviate some gas while I'm sleeping... Any and all suggestions :)

I was banded on the 23rd of August and I just walk a lot to get rid of the gas and take some chewable gas x. I am sleeping with a pillow on the side of my stomach or on my back.

I slept in a recliner for a while, made it easier to get up. After that I slept on my back for a while and then on my side after about 1.5-2 weeks. I have never been a stomach sleeper, but you should be able to sleep on your stomach after about 2 weeks.

I was prescribed oxycodone for pain meds. With that I was able to sleep on my tummy by the 3rd night. I didn't need the meds in the day so I only took them before bed to ease the sleep pain. Nights one and two were back and side sleeping.< /p>

I have always been a side sleeper but had no choice but to sleep on my back for the first week or so. As soon as you can sleep on your side, give it a try...it always helps me anytime I have a lot of gas.

I am a stomach sleeper also. The first 2 weeks were rough but you will get past it soon enough. Just try sleeping on your side for now.

I was banded 8/12/11 and I had to sleep in the recliner for a few nights. After that I just slept with a pillow tucked into my tummy and chest and it propped me up but felt like I was almost sleeping on my stomach. I'm 2 weeks out today but still not able to lie on my stomach to sleep.

Yeah I'm not able to be on my stomach either. But I cuddle with a firm pillow. It gives me the same feeling, plus it keeps me from rolling on to my stomach. My port is still sensitive.

For the first 2 weeks after surgery - on my back with two pillows under my knees. Then back to side sleeping :)

First few nights I slept in our guest room and the bed has no headboard. Its right up against the wall so I stacked about 4 pillows up the wall and slept sitting up almost. Then after that I could sleep on back and about a week later I could sleep on my side. Now after two weeks I can sleep on my stomach with no problems and no meds. I was banded w/ plication on the 15th. :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
