Starting to feel a bit frustrated!

Recommended Posts

I was banded with plication on 7-26-11. While I was on all liquids I lost about 32 lbs. SInce I have been back on solid foods I feel like I have gained a few pounds back. I have not had my first fill yet so I am still a bit optimistic... but I expected more from the plication I guess. They claim that my stomach has been reduced by 70% and I would say that is accurate because I am only able to eat about 30% of what I did before. However, that 30% still seems to be enough to not allow weight loss and even allow a bit of weight gain. The doc said I should feel restriction from the swelling around the band site for 3-4 weeks, however, after about 10 days I felt no restriction what so ever in the band area. Has anyone else gained a bit of weight after transistioning to solid foods before first fill?!

you are doing fine. think about it, you are now eating solid foods instead of just liquids. they are heavier and you are not filled yet. just don't over do it. i was eating more than i thought i should be before my first fill. after i got filled, i was eating alot less. i gained a couple of lbs after i was eating solids before my first fill too.

you have lost alot of weight in a short time, be proud of that.

You really are doing great. If you are uncomfortable at all make sure to talk with your doctor. I thought I was still getting great big gas bubbles and I was mild uncomfortable at times. It turns out that what I was feeling was my band. I just didn't know that that it is what it was supposed to feel like. So don't get discouraged.

I'm 3 weeks postop with just the band and have only lost 10lbs since surgery. I'm still on mushies for another week. Sounds like you're doing great to me.

Sailor,

I think it is way too early to judge how much is enough for you to be able to lose. You're pretty new to the post op side so just be a bit patient. I can tell you that, from what I read here, most people experience a slight increase in weight when the eat mushies.

I say just keep doing what your surgeon has told you to do. It will happen for you. Be patient and stay positive.

Best wishes to you!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
