The snacking is a hard one to break for me, it helped me before the band because I didn't eat big meals, just had healthy Snacks throughout the day, so its a total flip. I'll be working on it though! Your doing a good job!!

Papya enzymes...thank you! Sometimes I feel like they are a miracle. I haven't been stuck in 2 days, well a day and a half. Chewed some when I started getting that stuck feeling.

Glad they worked. I got some yesterday and they taste like sweet tarts. I got mine at Walmart but I was in a health food store today. The lady in there that has her Doctorate in holistic medicine said sometimes we might need as many as 6 and not to be afraid to take them if we need them. She was familiar with lap bands and helped me choose a probiotic for my gas. Still having lots, not painful but just embarassing at times. Like the kind you have with cabbage or Beans. So far no toots out in public but my dog looks at me funny sometimes. LOL I will carry some of them in my purse for eating meals out.

We can do this!

Blessings,

GG

I need to pick up some Papaya enzymes. I never want to go through what I went through again! What should I be looking for at the store? Papaya? Or, Papaya Enzyme?

I ate more Halloween candy today. Havent had any weight loss for over a week. Stupid Halloween candy.

I figured out that the gas was from my Protein drinks! I stopped drinking them for the most part now cause it was constant!

Kristen, throw that Halloween candy in the garbage! That's what you would tell me so do it for yourself.

We're supposed to get Papaya Enzyme. I got mine at Walmart and the brand name is Spring Valley and they are chewables. It's not very expensive for 180 tablets and the holistic Dr I spoke to yesterday said we can take 6 if needed.

Caryn, I know that Protein Drinks do that to me too. Now I need to cut out the black Beans in my hubby's wonderful turkey chili and no more sweet potato fries for me. I just started the probiotic and maybe between that, watching what I am eating more carefully and the Papaya Enzymes i can reduce the gas. Sorry about TMI.

Last night we ordered Outback takeout with friends. I was amazed that I actually stopped and felt full after les than half of my petie filet and less 1/4 of a baked potato. I ate all my salad with their Tangy Tomato dressing and felt full so I stopped without eating even half of my dinner. A real NSV for me. I thought their dressing was low fat so I used it. NOT! That house salad was 216 calories. I should have checked it before I ate it. If I know I am going somewhere out to eat I always check to see if their menu is online. If I had, I would have taken off the croutons and used my own dressing. I really did enjoy it but looking back I should have been more careful. Since I had not eaten much yeserday I was 156 calories over my 1100 so it will probably be OK. Overeating on salad, dumb mistake. :mad3:

We can do this!

Blessings,

GG

How the hell can someone lose 17lbs and NOT go down a clothing size? I put on a pair of 20s I haven't worn in a long time, that were super tight before and they fit, but are even a little snug STILL. Seriously?? I know i'm not working out, will rectify that soon I swear, but almost 20lbs and not a damn clothing size yet??? A few people have noticed my face and butt look smaller, and I do feel smaller, except for today when i'm wearing snug jeans and feel like big whale, but i'm seriously disheartened at the size thing. My regular jeans and work pants are looser but that's it.

Caryn, I know what you mean about those clothes. I'm having the same problem. My 20's are bagging around my legs, bottom and waist but I don't fit into my 18's. How can that be???? I am walking more than I have in my life and feel this is helping with losing inches. I want to get into my 18's!!!

I'm glad to hear you are losing and feeling better GG. Too bad about that salad, but only a hundred calories over- you can burn that off by washing the floor on your hands and knees!! Or maybe some arobic vacuuming!

Kristen I battled the candy and lost too-working now to get rid of the weight I gained. Back down to 185 (again) and walking more.

Jess its good to hear you are feeling better with the papaya enzyme. I don't have issues with feeling stuck, but wonder if they are beneficial to use "just because".

Are you all using chewable vitamins? I don't like the ones I have and see that alot of it is being flushed away in my urine. Makes me wonder how much is being absorbed by my body.

OMG! Caryn I have the same freaking frustration. I can still wear the same size 22 jeans that I was wearing when I weighed 293 pounds. I am now down 39lbs and still wearing the same jeans. I put them on yesterday I shouted SERIOUSLY! I wore them all day and keep saying to myself I can't believe I am still wearing these! LOL!

Forgot to update but found out that port not flipped. And when I called the nurse she said that the doctor was hitting himself in the head because after I left he remember that he put in a low profile port (which I did not know) and they sometimes are difficult to access. I go in for another attempt for a fill tomorrow. And I am scared because the last episode was a little painful. I hope all goes well and I leave with a much needed fill. Well wishes to all and thank you all for your continous support! Much Love. :thankyou:

Woke up this morning super excited, because I was going to be my much needed fill (did my victory dance and everything)! Well I celebrated to soon.........After 7 sticks and 3 different needles Dr. could not find port access. And yes after stick 3 it started to get painful. He thinks that my port has flipped, because when he inserts the needle it does not go through and we would here this thumping sound when he tried (he said which most likely the back of the port). He asked if I been having any pain at port area or unusual feelings and I have not. So I took an x-ray and he said he will call me tomorrow with the game plan, which might be as he said cutting me back open and flipping it back around on Friday.......Great .....more money out of my empty pockets, I have not started paying on the 2,000 plus out pocket of expenses from the intial surgery.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
