Hello everyone, I would like to thank you all for your postings. They give encouragement and support , when you plateau you NEED to hear it happens to others. If you are one of the less fortunate people in weight loss (slow losers) it is good to hear others too are hitting multiple plateaus. AND it is wonderful to hear about the people who are dropping large amts of weight in short period of time.I am so proud of each and everyone of us on this site because we took that big step to get to a healthier life. Keep posting my A11 friends it keeps some of us going, Blessings to all of you, and strength in our battle of weight.

Thanks GG, you always seem to know what to say! I stayed away from the chocolate and had some low fat string cheese. Surprisingly no yogurt in the house, I will need to rectify that situation. I calmed down and my hubby and I decided he is just not allowed to tell me what I am doing wrong. (Like eating too fast, or too big of bites.) I think we came to a happy medium.

As for the beef and bread it makes sense, especially since the bread was really dry.

Hi Jess,

I think some people have trouble with beef. It also might be the combination of the beef and bread. I stay away from bread unless it's toasted. I've heard it swells after we chew it and gets gooey.

Go ahead and vent. That's why we are all here. :) Don't go eat chocolate! Remember, we are all trying to stay away from the old habits. Go kick your husband or something. (just kidding) It's hard to sympathize with our plight unless you have been in our shoes and our spouses, while well intended, sometimes don't say or do the thing we need at the time. Love him anyway and don't hold a grudge. Believe me I've been there and done that and have the t-shirt too. Greek yogurt might feel good on your throat. Hope you are feeling better by now.

Blessings,

GG

Seriously? 10.5 ccs in a 14cc band and tonight i was allowed to move back into regular foods. I made burritos, pinto Beans, rice, diced tomatoes, seasonings. I made myself a small one because I wasn't sure how much I would be able to handle. I chewed really well. Ate the whole thing and didn't feel a difference. Had a SMALL bowl of ice cream with the kids and right now i'm satisfied but will prob be hungry in an hour ish. I don't want to be one of those people who say the band doesn't work for them, but I am wondering if I can get up to 14 ccs and still not have a lot of restriction. I want it tight dammit and so far, it just isn't there. The only way something might get stuck is if I take a big bite of something like fries (which is RARE, I don't eat fries!), or a really dry piece of chicken. Even bread, if I chew it well, it goes right down. Well, I haven't tried it yet since this time, but seriously, dinner felt the same. I didn't over eat, but I know i'm just not where I need to be. Maybe i'm expecting too much.

Someone posted a link or a name to a book written by some chick who has the lap band and it looked like a good read, anyone remember what it was?

Hi Tammy,

Welcome to the thread. Wow you have done very well, 34 lbs is wonderful. It's hard limiting ourselves these first few months with our bands still being adjusted. We are all in the same boat with slow weight loss and plateaus and this is a great place to come for support. Come back and post often. You never know if what you post is helping someone else out there.

Blessings,

GG

Thanks GG!!! I plan on being on here alot. I need the support and motivation!

I had my second fill last week. I ve had trouble eating bread and flour totillia since but I am still able to eat mire than a cup. Is that normal? It will get to where I can't over eat ( if I don't drink). Right??? I also had trouble w my frozen margarita. That surprised me. But I guess it makes since if we are suppose to drink something hot every morning. Does everyone else drink hot in the morn?? I haven't had to just yet.

I just wanted to let you know that the restriction will come. You are the one person I identify with the most on this blog because I often feel EXACTLY how you are feeling on the same days and everything. I have also been able to eat way more than I should along with foods I shouldn't be able to eat and was hungry every few hours. It almost felt as if the band was getting looser rather than tighter. I went in last week for a fill and they gave me another cc hesitantly mind you. So now I am up to 6 ccs in 10 cc band. I went from like no restriction to DEFINITE restriction. I have had issues eating salad since my last fill. I think part of the problem.....or really not a problem is that we have learned to eat small bites and chew our food better than we ever have. I promise if you chomped down on a burger like you use to it would get stuck. There are changes ...we are just not happy with the seemingly crawling progression. I just wanted togive you hope that maybe the next fill could be night and day for you. It is still not perfect I am almost there though. Your day is coming I promise.

I feel so left out of the club.......LOL. I have only had one little lonely fill.........ugh! Boy is this willpower thing a challenge. I go for my port revision on this Friday, so ready to get this over with so I can get this ball rolling with my fills. Most of you are on your 3rd plus fill by now. Best wishes everyone.

Just when I thought I had hit a plateau, I guess I had not. This morning I went to the doc for a fill and surprisingly I lost 2 more pounds. With the Halloween candy and all, I still lost! I am in shock because I have been sooooo hungry lately. I got my 4th fill today and I can now really tell there is restriction. When I got home from my appointment I made some Tomato Soup for lunch and I couldnt even finish half of it before I was feeling uncomfortable. This afternoon I had some coffee and some Water and I felt more uncomfortable. Finally!!!! I think my band is adjusted properly! I have however been burping alot today which is not common for me. Has anyone else experienced this??

Sending positive thoughts to all my bander friends!!!! Remember take one day at a time. If you eliminate 96 calories a day, thats 10 pounds in a year!! We can do this!! :P

The problem with getting appointments now is everyone that has met their deductible is trying to get all their medical stuff taken care of before the end of the year. Me too!

Chicken is usually bad for me too but a Chick Fil A went down smoothly tonite! Not the bread, it was starting to stick. I was bad and it was good. No, I take that back. I have said that all my life when I ate something I knew I should not have eaten. I will restate my sentence now. I choose to go off my program today and it was good and I really enjoyed it. Now I am back on track.

Blessings,

GG

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
