Another failed fill attempt..........still having problems with port. Looks like I will be going back under the knife again after all! :( :( :(

Sorry to hear, let us know how it goes.

Forgot to update but found out that port not flipped. And when I called the nurse she said that the doctor was hitting himself in the head because after I left he remember that he put in a low profile port (which I did not know) and they sometimes are difficult to access. I go in for another attempt for a fill tomorrow. And I am scared because the last episode was a little painful. I hope all goes well and I leave with a much needed fill. Well wishes to all and thank you all for your continous support! Much Love. :thankyou:

Oh no! Do they do it in the office or do you have to go back in the hospital? Bummer. I am so sorry. Try and keep you spirits up. It's not the end of the world and just a little blimp on this new journey. Keep us posted on what happens and when so we can pray.

Blessings,

GG

It will be done at the hospital...........anesthesia, more money, etc. I am scheduled for 11/18 and he said while he is in there he will give me a 1 cc fill (honestly that did not make me feel any better). I had a break down in doctor's office, the nurse was concerned about me, so much so she just told me to walk out the office don't worry about the copay or anything. I am just overwhelmed with this whole lapband situation right now, and I dread telling my mom (she will have to be my driver post-anesthesia) because I don't want to hear the I told you so's. I am trying GG.

Good luck Ms. lady - just let this be a minor setback, not a major one. We all have minor ones in some way, shape or form.

OMG! Caryn I have the same freaking frustration. I can still wear the same size 22 jeans that I was wearing when I weighed 293 pounds. I am now down 39lbs and still wearing the same jeans. I put them on yesterday I shouted SERIOUSLY! I wore them all day and keep saying to myself I can't believe I am still wearing these! LOL!

I have the same problem! My scale isn't moving, the nurse didn't seem happy with my numbers, the doctor didn't seem like he cared about the #'s even thought she said he would. I just remind myself it's a long journey, take a deep breath and move on. Others say they see a difference, but it's hard to understand what they are seeing when i don't see it either. Oh well.

So, what are the papaya seeds for? I haven't had a stuck episode (close, but not a full episode). Does it help with just gas in general? Also, does anyone have a little heartburn? I have slight heartburn often, but nothing ever major. I had a hiatal hernia before surgery, it was fixed when I got my band so I'm wondering if it's just general heartburn (runs in the family too) or if it's something I should be concerned about. I have noticed it more when I haven't ate. What about snacking? I see that several are staying away from snacking, but I still snack some, since I am trying to follow my presurgery diet somewhat...

Confused....

Kelly

Good luck and don't let it mess with your head. Does your port feel any different? I only ask as I am still waiting for the x rays to find out if mine has flipped. Unfortunately I don't even have a date even though doc requested it 4 weeks ago. The joys of our nhs:(

No Trevebyn. I feel absolutely no difference. And my doctors keep asking me if I feel anything and I haven't, he seemed confused by that.

Hi Kelly,

It's papaya enzymes and they are supposed to help if you get a "stuck" episode. I think they must help with digestion quicker than normal. A lot of banders say they really work. I got mine at Walmart and they are chewable tablets and we can chew at least 4, 6 if we need them. The ones I got taste like a sweet tart and are actually good.

You're right. We are all still in the early stages of our lap band journey so try not to get discouraged when that scale doesn't move. Different Dr's tell us to do different things so I'd just stick with the program your Dr has you on as far as snacking.

Blessings,

GG

Bless your heart. I wish I was there to slap that Dr. and give you a big hug. Tell your Mom if she says I told you so I will come take her on! I bet I'm older and bigger than she is anyway. Remind her you are now 39 lbs healthier and feeling better too I bet. Keep your positive attitude and remember you have new friends on here that care about you and are walking along side you and wiil be praying for you too. We all understand what a big deal having to go through that again is going to be but this time it will be a lot faster and maybe with only one tiny incision. No 2 week pre-op either! You have done a great job up until now so keep up the good work and look at this as a little blip and get back on the program.

Blessings,

GG

Just wanted to share. After 2 weeks pre-op and 10 1/2 long weeks post op I finally hit 20 lbs today! Yeaaaaaah! Happy dance time. There is something so encouraging about 20 lbs don't you think? It makes me know for sure this is really going to happen this time. Before, the most I've ever lost at one time was 24 lbs so I am really close to breaking my past record.

We can do this!

Blsesings,

GG

Hi guys! My weights has also been fluctuating 2 to 3 lbs. When I weight myself. But two things that I think to not be discourage. 1) I would have never lost 26lbs on my own in three months and 2) the quicker I loose weight the higher the possibility of my skin to hang. So I'm happy with my process, and hoping next summer I reach my goal.

I was talking to my skinny coworker about a meeting she attended. Where a woman guest speaker who came to give a speech at our Women's network. When this lady was talking about her personal life and how fat she was and said she was a size 12 ( and did wide hand gestures)  and now she is very proud of being a size 8, everyone was so moved, that they started applauding!! She stared at me, that I was getting upset. I said, first of all a size 12 is not a big size, (and i did the wide hand space gesture) because that is the size that I am now after being a size 18. So for me that us not fat! She tried to make me feel better by telling me what I need to eat to loose weight! The nerve of some people! They think they have the right to tell me what I need to do. Like I don't know! Yeash!!!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
