I fluxuate a lot too with my weight so I think I need to pick one day of the week to record. I weigh almost everyday and even if it is smaller number I find that I dont give myself credit for it. Mentally I am thinking it will go back up so might as well say I am at a higher number. I never knew I was such a mental case before this...I mean I joked about it sure but I am pretty hard on myself. Anyway the smallest number I have seen on the scale is 210.2 but I tell everyone I weight 213. One of these days I will laugh at myself because I will be far into onederland and the taunting 213 will be a big joke. Until then I guess I will just continue to drive myself crazy!

So sorry Ms Lady but just remember that it is a temporary weight gain. It will come off again and eventually forever. Plus that weight gain can be because so many things including Water weight. I could give a mile long pep talk but sometimes it is ok just to say that the situation sucks as long as you don't hang out in the pits for too long.

Not a good day.................First offical recorded gain since being banded!!! :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

Just wanted to do an update. The other day I questioned here what you thought my appointment today would be like. You guys were right I did get my 2nd fill. The Dr. Asked a couple questions about how I was feeling and then I got my 2nd fill.

Just like the first fill he says to do 3 days of liquids, 3 days of soft foods and then back to regular.

I have another appointment scheduled for 3 weeks.

I am so glad I got my 2nd fill today, I have been so hungry in between meals. So glad this program is finally moving, it seemed like forever before I had my first fill and now I am hopefull things will move along at a better pace.

Terri.

Yeaaah for your second fill. Keep us posted on how well it works.

You know ladies and gentleman we are all at a turning point in our lives. We can use the band as it is intended, as a weight loss tool. The lap band is not the sleeve or bypass and not a quick fix. we all knew that going into it. By time next year we will all be thinner and healthier! We just have to be patient, stay on program, exercise and WE CAN DO THIS!!

Blessings,

GG

Well I started this journey I told myself that I would weigh myself only once a week on Thursdays (the day of surgery) and record. Well over the past few weeks weighing myself have increased more and more. I am now up to weight just about everyday (occasionally I might skip a day). I weigh in the morning as soon as I awake and use the bathroom (release those fluids every bit helps...lol) with my night cloths on. No matter how many times I weight the number is only recorded on Thursday. I do ok with the ups and downs, but I never had an up on the recording day so I did not take that well. I am the type of person that gets easily discouraged, but I can say that I didn't let it get me too down. More like frustration, because I never work so hard at losing weight then I have been these last few weeks. However I do go for a fill on Monday, so maybe this will help.

Just curious when and how often everyone is weighing themselves and do you wear clothes when you do? I personally prefer no clothes but kinda feel like I am cheating.

Ms. Lady I am sure the fill will help, just a minor set back...just remember one day at a time!

S2b, wow...3 days liquids and 3 mushies?! My PA says 24 hours liquids, 24 hours mushies then off to regular. Of course I forgot on my 2nd fill and went straight to the chicken. Maybe I should try your 3 day thing, couldn't hurt right?!

Congrats again to all of you hitting your new low's. I hit 184.6 today!!!! I weigh every day in the AM, no clothes. I can handle the daily fluctuations and know it's part of the routine for the body to do that. Hope everyone has a good week end. Blessings, Healthywoman

Congradulations Healthywoman! under 190 must be exciting! I weight myself everyday too. right before taking a shower after using the toilet. I can't help it.. I don't get upset if one day is 1 pound over. I know is my body adjusting to the weight. Jess527- My nurse tells me 24 hrs of liquids and 24hrs. of mushie as well. But it's been 4 days since my 2nd fill and I can't bearly eat or drink anything without it getting stuck! I had to call the office and ask her to unfill my band. I told her we need to come into a sensible agreement on how much she should take out. ;)

Thanks chich, when is your appt for your unfill? Let us know how it goes! Have a great weekend Healthywoman

Yes chich, let us know how the unfill goes. I am going back for another teeny tiny 1/4 cc fill on Monday. That's the only thing I do not like about my Doc but he knows best so I am not complaining, very much. LOL I will do as he says. I am starting to not feel hungry as often so maybe that's all it will take. Everybody have a great weekend. Anybody on the East Coast hunker down for that snowstorm!

Blessings,

GG

I can't believe its snowing in some parts! Insane!! It's been cold at night here but 80 during the day. I'm ready for cooler day temps, but I go back to work in Dec and am going to freeze my butt off since I work nights!

I'm down another lb today so 16 lbs total. I'm pleased! I haven't been in a huge hurry like some seem to be. I had pretty healthy habits before so I haven't made any big changes, mostly portion size, which I'm still struggling with. Tomorrow is fill 4 and I'm hoping for another cc. I think that will be good. I go 24 hrs liquids, 24 hours mushies, then regular. My paperwork says 2 and 2 but I can't handle mushies at school, I need some damn sustenance. I asked the Dr last time and he said that's fine, go 24 and 24.

Last night the husband and I drank wine and watched Wonder Years on netflix. It was fabulous, I love that show!

What's everyone up to this weekend?

Good morning everyone, we are expecting a huge storm here in NYC, but it never stops us from partying! Lol. Halloween is very much celebrated here and most adults dress up. So it should be a blast!!

I went for my unfill yesterday evening. I explain how uncomfortable it was for me to drink Water and not able to eatany mushy food. My nurse said we will need to take out .7cc. That will set my second fill from 1.7cc to 1cc making it a total of only 3cc in my 10cc band. She told me to keep my next appt on 11/21/11, but wrote on my file that future fills will not be more then .5cc. She said everyone is different with the band adjustments, and most likely I will loose the wait without needing large quantity of CCs in my band. I ask her if I need to be in liquids and mushy for 24 hrs.? But she said only soft solids. But I barely could eat anything last night without having that heavy chest feeling. Lets see how it will feel today. Wish me luck!!

Morning A11's!! I haven't posted in a while. Usual craziness of back to work, the little ones, and I love the fall and being outdoors every weekend!

I just had my second fill yesterday. After the full I asked how much he gave me and he said .5 I was like WHAT??? I'm always starving!!! He said cause in losing weight he didn't want to put a lot in. I told him I'm weighing and measuring my food but I can eat more than a plateful of food and still wanna eat lol he then realized I wasn't letting him off the hook and he gave me another cc. I feel great my surgery was on 8/11 and I'm now down 30lbs. But I plan my meals and keep only healthy things in the house to snack on. I also found a new love, Zumba. Lots of fun! I'm good, not all the time, make good choices-not all the time, try and go to the gym at least 3 x's a week.. Not all the time. Learning to live a healthy and happy life WITH the band. Wishing everyone health and happiness!!! :-) Cara

I had my 2nd fill last week and will go back in 2 weeks for another teeny fill. I plateaued from when I go tmy first fill until I got my 2nd. Now I'm ffeling some restriction, but I still feel like I'm eating more than I should, so hopefully this next fill will do the trick.

Problem is, my mothers' group is going out for dinner the night of the fill! It's OK, they all know i've had the band, but it's going to be tough to just order an appetiser Soup when everyone else is having gourmet pizza!

I weigh in every morning after using the toilet, wearing my pyjamas.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
