I had the lapband in 2008 and everything went wonderfully the first 7 months. I lost 65 pounds during that time. Since then I have gained 40 back. I am afraid to even go see my surgeon; to be honest I am a little scared of his reaction to not seeing me in SOOOOO long. I almost want to go see another surgeon in a city over and start fresh. My husband is currently in Iraq and I would love to loose 90 pounds during the year he is gone, but I have no motivation to do anything. I had even thought about using weight loss pills to jump start my weightloss. I am embarrased to tell people that I had weight loss surgery because you could truly never tell. I am beginning to wish I would have had gastric instead of the lapband just because I have seen such drastic weight loss in my friends that had the other and they are able to eat anything and everything they want. Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Go to YOUR doctor. You would be amazed at how many people don't go because they are too embarrassed because they aren't having success. He's used to it. He can't help you if you don't go. Your husband is going to be gone for a year. Imagine the look on his face when he comes home and sees his skinny wife for the first time. Use that as your motivation!

I agree with what Cindy said. Go back to your doc ASAP! Go get a fill and get back on track. Just do it! You will be happy you did.:)

The advice the above two individual suggested is good advice. By all means, don't panic and try not to think about gastric bypass, give the band a chance to help you. You've done the right thing, now let it work for you as you do what you need to do. Going back to the doctor will help get you back on track. If you don't feel comfortable telling people about your surgery, then don't tell them - the results will show up soon enough (and you still don't have to tell them if you don't want to)!! B)

I understand how you feel. I got the band in Mar 09 and was doing really well, I felt. In Dec.& Jan, we had lots of snow and I found comfort in food. I didn't gain but I didn't loose any either. As it got warmer I started to loose again, but then it got hot and I kept getting tighter and tighter. By the middle of Jul I couldn't get anything to stay down, my husband forced me to go in. UNFILL, I had irrated my throat by continuing to try to eat and the entire passageway was swollen. I didn't go back for a fill until Oct,., I had put on about 12lbs. and I have been fighting them since. I can't get it to stay off. I feel cheated, stupid, and lazy. I think I am the same weight as last year this time, but I hate that I haven't lost. We aren't the the first people to have this happen, so just tighten you spine, take it on the chin and go. Your doctor has other patiens that have experienced this and he will not loose his mind. You are doing this for you.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
