Hi! I am just curious to know how long were you in the hospital post-op, assuming there were no complications of course... Also, how long before you went back to work? Specifically, if you have a desk/computer job, no hard labor, lifting, etc... thanks!

For me was same day surgery, went in like 5AM was out of surgery by like 8AM but got stuck in recovery til almost 3PM due to my bladder apparently didnt want to wake up from anes and they would not let me leave til I peed . I work at a desk and took a week off and was back at it 100% no soreness. If you do a lot of lifting or bending over I would take off as long as possible 2-4 weeks.

I planned my surgery pretty good. My surgery was on 30 June, on 1 July was a regular day off as well as 4th of July and was back to work on Tuesday 5 July. I did have to take 7 July off because Of being so Bloated and severe Stomach cramps. And I am a Desk Jockey, Hope this helps

I took off 2 weeks but could have gone back in a week but I had paid leave to burn so..why not

I have a physical job, I took one week, felt I could've gone back sooner. If I had a desk job I think 4 days off would have sufficed. Also I had an outpatient procedure and I was at the hospital at 8 and home by 2 or 3.

They combined my band placement surgery with a hiatal hernia repair and a ventral hernia repair. (I figured as long as they were going to be under the hood, they may as well do a full tune up. ) So I stayed two nights in the hospital. Since it was December and things at work were slow, I opted to stay home for long enough to feel like I was ready to face my workday - which meant being back on solid food. So I stayed home three weeks, using a one-time sick leave bank I had available that wouldn't have been used otherwise. By the time I went back to work I was done with my surgeon's post-op liquid diet, and I was getting back onto solids. I was glad for the extra time off, not so much for the band surgery, but for recovering from the ventral hernia repair. That was a hard one.

I had my surgery on Friday, out-patient basis. I was home by 1:00 pm from my 8:00 am surgery. I took a nap and then was walking the neighborhood around 6:00 that evening. The soreness was awful on Saturday, but Sunday I was sleeping on my side again and having no trouble getting in or out of bed. I went back to my desk job on Monday with no problems at all. I arrived at the hospital at 7am, had surgery at 11am , went home around 4pm, after surgery all I had to do was eat a Popsicle, do another swallow test, use the bathroom and then I could go home

Oh and I went back to work two days later but at the time I worked at a clothing store in the mall sooo no hard labor.

Surgery was at 8 am Tuesday. Went home at Noon Wednesday. Had a very physical job that I returned to the following Monday. I went back on "light duty" which meant 25lb lifting restriction for the first week. Could have done my job just fine from the beginning but my co-workers wouldn't let me!

I was in overnight and then took full two weeks off work (fortunately second week coincided with Easter so didn't have to use too much sick leave.) I am a desk jockey, too, and would not have coped going back any earlier than 10 days due to effects of anaesthetic plus shoulder pain.

Surgery at 1215 hours, stayed overnight due to large hernia repair - we knew that was coming - and a liver biopsy. I was out at 1400 hours the next day. Took a total of one week off. I had a lot of post-op gas and incision pain. My job requires carrying of firearm, so had to take off due to narcotics in my system. On light duty total of 6 weeks, hopefully going back next week because I'M GOING INSANE!!

I think it all really depends how you handle pain and surgery. Like my doctor says "some people have surgery like a hair cut and others feel like they got ran over by a bus." Every time I have surgery I feel like I have been ran over 3x by a bus. I went back to work after 2 weeks, because I lift and my employer wanted to make sure I would be able to do my job. I know I was in recovery for 4 hours after my surgery. If I had a desk job, I think I would allow a week. I think a lot of it also has to do where the port is located and the pain associated with movement, Good luck and best wishes!

I sit at a computer all day. I took 3 days off and went back and then decide I did not feel like working took another 2 days off and then I was fine. I was ready physically but not emotionally. You know women and their emotions.

Checked in Hospital at 7am, surgery at 10am, home by 7pm. Longest wait was hanging around in recovery for them to take me to x-ray. Once that was done, I was able to go home.

That was a Monday. Went into the office for 2 hrs. on Thursday, and a few hours on Friday. Back to work full time following Monday.

I did take the entire week off, but by day 3 I just had to get out and do something.

i am hoping i can work surgery in around the holidays, so i will not have to use too much of my pto... but it may be torture not to be able to eat pumpkin pie, and turkey. on the otherhand, perhaps it is perfect timing
