My primary care doctor is being allowed to do my psych eval. I think it varys wildly from doctor to doctor and program to program.

When I went it was more like meeting with a concerned friend. They asked what I knew about the surgery, risks, options. Why I decided to do this. How long I had been "fighting the battle of the bulge"/ He asked me the standard, "ever thought of suicide". Other than that it was more like "Do you know what you are getting into and have you done your research? Don't worry, It will be a breeze. Mine only lasted for 30 minutes. I didn't even get to lie down on the couch (ha, ha).

They just want to make sure that you're going into this with realistic expectations and that you're not going to develop unhealthy eating habbits afterwards like starving yourself. Just answer honestly and I'm sure it'll be fine.

what type of questions were you asked on your physiological evaluation for the lap band? blink.gif

Oh Dear Lord! I have bc/bs of tenn, and they required a full blown pyysic

eval. ...it had questions like .....do i hear voices , think i am being

watched lol,,,,,,,,,,,the whole process took 3 hours. basicly the guy said

that they just want to try to screen for people that they feel might fail

with the process, (even tho he stated that there is no sure way to do that)

using the band to become anorexic, or that might use food for emoitional

support, and basicly making sure people understand the concept of the band

without unrealistic expectation. Good Luck and Enjoy the Journey

I am getting banded next week! (So excited.)

I actually found the psych evaluation to be really helpful. As others have said, they ask about suicide and whether you have done your research and are really ready for change. But, my psychologist went much deeper and actually helped me explore some of the reasons I got to be so fat. This new understanding will surely help me as I make the banding journey.

I think that like everything in life, you will get out the psych evaluation what you put into. Don't be scared; instead, use it as an opportunity to explore how you got to where you are and what you will need to do to change.

Good luck!

My psych eval was NOTHING like I thought it would be. In fact I didn't even get asked any questions! It was a group setting (9 of us) and the counselor just talked to us about getting our mindset ready to lose weight and the changes it will/can cause in personal relationships and the importance of exercising. It was more of a lecture setting.

i had my pcyche evaluation yesterday. It took over a month to get in to the pysch. Appointment lasted 2 miutes. He said we had nothing to talk about becasue I had no issues. He ask me if I was doing it becasue I wanted to look good. I told him, "no I look good I am doing it to be healthy ."And that was it. My freind was in the waiting room and could not believe that I was finished, Waited longer in the waiting room than in the appointment with the DR .

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
