I think just about every weight loss surgery program requires a psych eval. Totally common and nothing to worry about. They just want to make sure you understand you know what you are getting into and dont have unrealistic expectations.

Good Luck!

Hi, if you are asking how common is it to have to have psych evaluations, I believe that all doctors in the "centers of excellence" require it and I believe most insurances require it.

I think that most surgeons require a psych eval. I was self pay and I had to get one as well. I think it's important. I think that it's important to be mentally ready for weightloss surgery because it's a big change emotionally as well as physically and requires the true desire to make a lifestyle change. Don't worry, it's not because anyone thinks you're crazy, lol!

My appt. with the psychiatrist was a breeze. Just took my family history, asked why I wanted the surgery--just general things. Nothing hard or scary. You'll do fine!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
