I noticed a little more restriction but not much. I think I need more fill. I've gotten strict with my intake and am losing 1lb every day but I feel I'm still hungry. I'm on an 800 calorie intake and use the lapbandjouney.com to track my food intake and activity. I am not doing well on activity though its been way too hot to walk outside where I'm at..110 degrees yesterday! How are you doing??

Hey, Nancy! I got my first fill recently and got .8 cc, which she said was "a lot" for a first fill, so I think .5 is probbaly about average.

Have you noticed a difference? I haven't.

Hi Everyone!

I'm still lingering in the 171 pound region, haven't broken through that plateau. Good news is that I have had major NSVs instead, and it helps me know I'm doing something right. I'm wearing my size 10 abercrombie and fitch jeans and my medium uniform pants. Everyone noticed my uniform pants! I was worried they were too tight but my girlfriend at work said they fit great. I really wish I could break 171. Been stuck here for a while. Guess it is time to step up my exercise game. Hoping for you all to be healing, losing & winning!

Kate

I feel like i should be losing more...Im also not eating very many calories most the time less than 800 calories..I start my work outs tomorrow at our new gym that just opened so hopefully this will help also! Im down 10-13 pounds since July 20 :/ Guess its better than nothing...I know we all think that it should just fall off like a miracle, atleast thats what i thought at first, but i have learned that it takes hard hard work!!!! Good luck and keep in touch!!!

I am going thru a rough time with the band...after my last fill which was my third one, i though i was too tight because the whole weekend, i would get stuck everytime i had any type of solid, good or bad. since the weekend, i think things are easing up and i am able to eat somewhat now, but i got so discouraged that i think i am making terrible eating choices almost everyday. i am confused: am i too tight and because of that convincing myself to eat slider and bad foods, or am i not tight enough and just depressed about the truth of the matter that i will not be able to eat certain things without getting stuck. i am stuggling with this way of life because i feel like i am doomed to miss out on all the fun, and plus i am not even losing much to make it worth it. sometimes i think i just need to hurry up and start exercising to help me along and get me over this slump and not run into the office for an unfill or a fill. any advice?

They are doing another fill that quickly? I was banded on 7/20, had a fill 8/10. I still feel no restriction. Do you feel any different after this fill?

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!

Hello All, I was banded yesterday July 29!!!! I'm very pleased so far. I keep thinking this is the quiet b4 the storm!! Haven't had much pain, just a little (expected) soreness. I am waiting for the "horrible gas" I keep hearing about! lol I try to walk around the house for 5 mins every hour. Today I can have broth, flavored water, and tea. Broth never tasted so good! lol Got it form the chinese restaurant- plain. Yummy! Good luck to you all!!

Hey, friends! It's good to hear from everyone that has been checking in lately and I'm so happy for those of you seeing good results! For those of you feeling frustrated and challenged, just hang in there! I know that it seems slow-going, but if you can picture what youll look like in 9-12 months, it might help you keep motivated. I know that sometimes I stop and think I haven't lost much, but then I have to remind myself that it's not even been 2 months yet!

Anyway, I have been doing great with the band and haven't had any problems so far. I am 7 1/2 weeks out and down 34 lbs. I guess my only complaint is Constipation - Grr!

Onward and downward, my friends!

Hey everyone, thought that I would check in. Everything is ok. Have only a had a couple of "sticking/sliming" incidences. and Lordy, I am not a fan of that! I have not had a fill yet, as that I had to reschedule my first one until Sept 14th. However, I am down 22 lbs without it, so I think it may be slow but sure. and I am ok with that, as long as the scale is going down and not up! I am still not eating bread, rice or Pasta yet. I am visiting my doctors office's nutrtionist and exercise periodically, which is a part of their program. Very helpful.

Good job, everyone and stay in touch

Ugh. I had my first full-on "PB" yesterday. Disgusting!! It was made worse by the fact that the PB made me vomit. Yuck, yuck, yuck.

At least I was at home when it happened!

First fill tomorrow! I am a bit nervous about it, as I don't quite know what to expect pain wise; I still feel a bit tender around the port area. I am looking forward to feeling restriction, but I am so worried about getting stuck, or PBing. I already cannot eat soft breads without a slight stuck feeling, so I am going to try and be super careful and not get stuck by focusing on the small bites and chewing. From what I am reading on posts, it is most likely going to happen at least once though!

Hi all: Went to dr yesterday and down 22 lbs. I'm happy with the way my loss is going......slow but steady. He asked if I wanted a fill but I thought I would hold off for now. I am able to eat most everything I try... but do get satisfied with less food. I feel comfortable like this and have had no issues with vomiting, etc. Am I doing the right thing by not getting a fil????. If I do see my hunger getting worse I will definately get one at my next visit which will be in mid October. Going to Vegas with friends at the beginning of October so I want to feel comfortable with the band. Dr. said it will get tighter with the air flight......then it should adjust. Has anyone had an issue with flying with the lapband?? Thanx CAT

2nd fill this Thursday, I'm down 14 lbs now. I'm good with that, my "fat" clothes are too big now. But now quite into my one size down yet. Hopefully with 5 more lbs I will be. Can't wait to take that size 8 wardrobe back out of my closet! It's almost 2 years since I've worn any of it. Man that weight just crept up on me.

This week was my biggest loss so far at 3lbs, I was stoked to see it on the scale. well have a great week bandsters!

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
