I was banded December 28, 2010, had 5 fills and lost 46 lbs by April 1, 2011. My band was way to tight, was not hungry at all, never ate but continued to go to the Gym 5-6 days a week, doing 30 mins. of cardio with free weights, reminded me of college football days. In May 2011, the doctor removed some fill from my band, gained 2 lbs, which the doctor was right because my band was way to tight; yesterday, weighted myself gained another 3 lbs, not happy about that, I am spenting way to many hours in the gym for those results. Plus, I am eating mainly oatmeal, egg whites, Protein and salad & Protein Drinks for a total of 80 grams of protein a day. I return to the doctor's office this Monday, June 27, 2011, I am 100% that I will have a fill, which I am hoping for the correct fill, I still remember when the fill was to tight and I threw up everyday on anything. Personally, I believe with the band being to tight ealier, it gave me misleading weigh in and now its been corrected, now its time for a another fill and "GOYA"(Get Of Your Ass) time in the gym. Well, it's off to the gym and a free Jazz Concert tonight in Overland Park, Kansas.:D

Gotta track your calories. You'd be surprised... also it's surprising when you "think" you are eating good, but you aren't. I eat "a little too much" every day and I'm not losing. It's my own fault. You have to have a calorie deficit to lose weight.

Also a lot of exercise causes you to gain muscle and lose fat, but maybe not pounds.

The fills are used to control your hunger! Nothing else. That's all the band does. Shouldn't be making you sick, and you shouldn't have trouble eating.

Thanks. The Dotocor's tell me that I am not eating enough food to lose weight like I want. I am tracking my daily calories on Fit Day.Com. The reason, I think I need a fill is that I am hungry a lot. Also, my body size a dropped a lot since December 2010. I have no pants that fit properly. Okay, I am a big time gym rat too. I must learn to control that. Again, thanks.

You are probably hungry all the time because you're not eating enough to support the amount of exercise you are doing. I would suggest increasing your calories with high Protein foods...the protein will keep you full longer - maybe adding a Protein Shake before your workout will help.

Thanks. I am going to try to not be such a gym rat, but, I will still workout very hard. I will add more Protein to my daily eating schedule. My doctor's office told me since, to take in at least 80 grams of Protein per day. When I had my last fill, I was newver hungry and never ate, may one (1) meal per day. Now I am eating good exercising and trying to be active. My wife, thinks I am crazy because, I am never happy; she thinks 40 lbs in 5 months is pretty good. I thought, I 'd be down around 65-80 lbs. Anyway, thanks for your help!!!

My doctor's office recommends 80-120g Protein each day. Like you, I can have a hard time getting in enough calories because I'm not hungry. I normally force myself to eat a couple of Snacks (string cheese, etc) even if I'm not hungry. My NUT told me to have a Protein shake at night if I need to in order to get my calories and protein in.

Thanks, again. I had a good appointment yesterday at the doctor's office, she told me to continue workout, but cut back on the weight lift activies and add more cardio, that will be hard to do since I am disabled. Hello, Pool exercises. The doctor told me to eat more for Protein for Breakfast (Protein Shake) and 2 meals after that, no snacking!

I can't wait to my August doctor's visit; Again, thanks.

I'm no doctor but cutting back on weight-lifting is silly. Weight-lifting is EXTREMELY beneficial when it comes to weight loss as it helps to ensure that the weight you're losing isn't muscle mass, but fat. And in the case I've a disabled person, it's even better. I've seen much better results from the last few weeks when I've been seriously weight-lifting when compared to the times I was running for an hour on the treadmill.

I'd reconsider. My 2 cents.

Thanks. I will try to not be a such a "gym rat" and eat properly. Your comments will motivate me and help me in the future. Also, I will again track my daily food intake in Fit Day.Com and only eat Protein and veg.'s. Again, thanks.

You are exercising way too much and eating way tooo many carbs. You think being a gym rat is going to make you lose weight? Nooooooooooo. I dont agree with muscle weighs more than fat because a pound is a pound is a pound no matter what and muscle is just denser than fat. Are you eating meat Protein or drinking those protein drinks that they give you at the gym because if its whey protein you are going to bulk up we need protein isolates that is what we need. Stop getting so many fills they will not make you lose weight. You have to be able to eat not starve.

You don't want to burn out with all that hard Gym work. Steady as she goes. In other words Consistency is really the key with the Band.

I been where you are at. Do to a Dr.'s F*ck Up. So I regained almost all of it on a empty band, and found a New Surgeon, and he found nothing wrong with the band. So I am now getting a second chance without being in the RED ZONE. I lost it before, and I will again. It's just that this time I know better, and I will let it come off, without sweating over it.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
