Hi Marshap,

I had BCBS Kansas Blue Care-they did pay for lap band but before I submited everything I made sure they had everything they would need. I was approved in 1 week.

I now have BCBS traditional as of Jan 1 (hubbys company forced change) and I am not sure if they will continue to pay for my fills. We will see....

Just a note in response to the 15,000 fee. Does that cover the outpatient portion of the hospital stay? As I just yesterday received 2 bills in the mail. The hospital portion was 25,0000!

Just wondering as that could make a big difference!

Miztrniceguy,

I am sorry if that came out wrong, I was trying to say NO QUESTION is silly. I actually go to Dr. Selims actual office so have not been back to the WLS center yet.

LisaMarie and St Louis Gal,

I'm reading your threads today and would like to know how you're doing. I'm in Edwardsville and am hoping to have LapBand surgery at DePaul. So far I'm just registered for the seminar in early February and I've contacted my insurance co. (UHC). Maybe we can support each other--you guys are a little ahead of me and I know I'll be watching your progress with interest and pulling for your good health and success.

Good luck on your journey. I'm going for my pre-op classes this week. I'll know more about when my surgery is and the details after Wednesday So far I've been very impressed with the Weight Loss Institute and have heard really good things about the docs. I'll post more on Wednesday evening.

Good luck to you and if you have any questions feel free to ask me. I am totally happy with my banding, hospital, and the doctors! I am very glad I did it. The weight is coming off slow to me but as long as it is coming off and not going on I am OK!

Chris,

Thank you. Yes, I would like to see the letter. This is quite a journey, isn't it? I've definitely decided to do it if all approvals come through. Thanks for writing and best of health and luck to you and your wife.

I went to my pre-op class yesterday. I am very impressed with the program and Dr. Scott. My surgery will be February 15. The classes were very interesting and informative. I plan to go to the seminar on February 6 also so maybe we will see each other. I am going so my husband can get the information about the surgery. He wasn't able to go with me yesterday so I think he can be more supportive if he has heard it from the doctor.

I am new to this thread. I am Brandy. I live in Florissant. I was banded on October 31, 2007 at DePaul Hospital. I was very pleased with my surgery and the staff there. My surgeon was Dr. De La Torre.

I am 3 months Post-Op and down 56 lbs. I have my 2nd fill THIS thursday.

It has been a journey but it is SOOOOOOOO worht it. You can be a success at this.

My weight has come off rather fast... like RNY patients does. The DR is always impressed with my numbers. Its hard to believe sometimes that I have lost so much in so little time too.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
