Banded Thur June 2nd... Here are my thoughts

Recommended Posts

I am from AZ and I was banded on Thursday in Mexico. A lot different from here in the states. I checked in at 9:30 did my tests and by 10:30 I was getting the band. I woke up with the common shoulder pain and slept most of Thursday. I wasnt allowed anything to drink until the next day. Friday we left and stayed the night at the Hilton to recover for a 6 hour drive home Saturday. The pain didnt really come until Sunday. I felt aweful, due to the shoulder pain. I took muscle relaxers and vicodine to help. Sunday was hard for me to get down liquids. I could only drink 1 to 2 oz at a time, so I was thirsty. Sunday was also when Banster Hell kicked in. I THINK I was hungery, and wanted to eat everything in the fridge. I made it through to Monday which was better but still gas shoulder pain. I was soooo thirsty, and drank most of my oz of fluids. Today, I woke up pretty early and feel SOOO much better. Gas pain seems to be gone, and I have lost 13 lbs since Banded! Seems like a ton of weight to me. I have 4 incisions, that are all small and they are very sore. Other than that I seem to be doing well and very happy I made this decision.

I have my surgery Thursday the 16th and plan to go back to work on MOnday.......is that pushing it? I see you had yours on a Thursday also. I am glad to hear you are doing well after the initial hoopla that I'm sure we will all go through!

yeah...i thought i was going to do the same when i was banded...but you just don't know how much pain you may be in a day or 3 later. but if you can do it...do it, just take your time and don't rush it.

Okay, so here is my update...... FEELING SOOO MUCH BETTER! Im down 15.2 lbs in one week! 7 days ago this very moment I was on the Operation Table and today, my stomach muscles have finally gotten better. I can sit up without pain now. The shoulder pain has gone way down still there at times but not at all like it was a few days ago. I got to go to mushies yesterday. I never thought a 1/4 cup of refied Beans diluted would taste so good. Surprisingly 1/4 was just enough food. Unlike before where I would get a can of beans add cheese and dip chips unil the can was gone! I am looking so forward to this new step in my life. FEELS SO GOOD TO BE A BANDSTER!

Many people do. I would not have been able to. I caught a cold right around the time I was in the hospital. So my recovery was slowed by that. Yes, having a cough after abdominal surgery was such great fun.

My advice to everyone is to plan for the worst and hope for the best. I took two weeks off, tried to return after one, but ended up doing half-time the second. I know not everyone has the luxury of writing their own schedule as I do, but if you plan to return on Monday after your surgery--at least have a contingency plan in case you can't.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
