I had my second fill last Wednesday. With my first fill, I definitely noticed that I was able to be satisfied with less food and I could go longer without eating. It wasn't immediate but eventually I felt it. With this last fill I don't feel any different. Is this normal?

Hi Jenn,

I've had two fills and still feel no restriction. It's frustrating and I haven't lost any weight since my surgery. I've been adding all of my calories on my fitpal.com and can't see any huge eating issues. I hope the next fill works.

My first fill I felt about two weeks later. My second fill I felt immediately and was too full. And my fills were very tiny considering some others - 1.5 and 1.0 respectfully.

You may not feel your fill now - but you may in 2-4 weeks. Best test - try eating something you were having minor difficulties with prior to your recent fill. For me, I went from having minor difficulties to not being able to eat those items at all - ever.

Big change.

I felt a minor change after my first fill- any idea how much your second fill was? Seems to me like if it doesn't make a difference after 2 weeks, it's time to head back for fill #3.

Number three is said to be the "life changer" around my doctors office and it was for me. The first two I felt somewhat restricted but #3 changed everything!!! My doctor makes us wait 4 weeks between fills and and in order to continue to get fills we must be part of a support group and we are required to particpate in on-going education through the staff nutrionist. If we do not comply we do not get any more fills!!!! Do not get discouraged!!!! I have lost 30 lbs since my surgery in February and each month my weight loss increases as the number of fills increases.

Hi Jen,

I have had my Lap Band for 8 months now and have gotten 5 fills, after the surgery I felt full lost 2 pounds. After that I felt nothing the last fill my food started getting stuck and I threw up. I have not lost any weight I have actually gained 8 pounds, whats going on, will I be the only person who has Lap Band that did not lose weight, I am so frustrated.I spoke to other patients in the waiting room and they started losing weight immediatley. 2 people told me they lost 65-70 pounds within 2-3 months. I keep asking my doctor if maybe the band slipped he tells me to be patient we have to get the cc's right. My last fill which was on june 5th he said i did not need a fill this time he dosen't want it to be too tight and to come back in August, however I gained 8 pounds I am confused why wouldn't I need a fill? and why would I wait to come back way....in August if I am not losing? :( Can anyone help me anyone????

My little grasshopper there is no normal.............EVERYBODY is a little different. The journey is long and not without learning many new things.Fight the fellings of frustration with more physical activity your band will cooperate very soon. Just fight the maddness of becomeing frustrated and stay glued to your Dr.for instructions. Don't become one of the many I see posting "I can eat just as much as I did before my lapband surgery" The band takes work and alot of self talk to get you through the tuff times.................Good Luck

Please don't feel alone, my friend. I have had some of the very same thoughts. "Why is everyone else losing and I'm not?" "What am I doing wrong?" I felt like everyone else was losing right after surgery, even without a fill, and I didn't! Most everyone will agree that each experience is different. I think that most of us have failed so many times on diets that we are expecting to fail with the band, too. Stop that thinking! Stop it right now! It IS going to work this time. Here are my thoughts on your weight gain: Since you are gaining, you are taking in more calories than you are burning off. What could you be eating that is high in calories? What could you be drinking that is high in calories? Are you able to exercise? Even a little can help. How about talking to a nutritionist? Or, if you are not satisfied with your doctor, how about a second opinion?

I just got my second fill and I am feeling anxious about starting to eat. How's that for a strange feeling? Never in my life have I been shy about eating. This "band thing" is so different from anything we've experienced before. We all feel our uncertainties. But I'm with you, and so are all of these other bandsters. Right, gang?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
