I only have 4 lbs to go before I hit my mini-goal of 50 lbs!!

The reward I was going to give myself was to get my teeth whitened. I talked to my dentist about Zoom. (Where you sit in a chair & your teeth are whitened in 1 hr.) He said it was the worst pain ever! He said that he'd rather give birth then to have his teeth whitened again. (He's never given birth, so I don't know why he gave me that comparison, but......oh well!) I did the teeth whitening trays 2 yrs ago & it was a pain in the behind to wear them & I didn't feel like my teeth stayed very white.

Have any of you ever had the Zoom treatment? Did it hurt? I am wondering if my dentist just has a low tolerance for pain or if I need to get a new goal.

I know it's not glamorous, but I've had GREAT success with the Crest Premium White Stips. They really work for me. My teeth look great. I get compliments on my smile now all the time.

They are inexpensive and easy to use. I've never done the 'Zoom' thing, so I can't help you there.

I had a friend who had it done and she said it wasn't that bad. She had one tooth that did cause her pain during the process, but she got through it ok. I felt like she could have done the Crest strips and got the same or maybe even better results. I have used the Crest strips as well in the past.

Yes, I have had it. It is not so much the procedure they do but afterwards your teeth are very sensitive to everything hot or cold. The procedure involved holding your mouth open with an aparatus for a long time. I think it was about an hour and not very comfortable. Also I found that afterwards you needed to continue to use the whitening stuff in a mold of your teeth. I did this for about a year but really i wish I had saved my money. The strips they sell in the stores seem to do the same. I did notice a big difference in the beginning but the teeth go back to almost the way they were.

I've never done the zoom, but the crest premium white strips gave me noticeable results after using them the first day, and it got better each use after. My DH said they made his teeth too sensitive and he quit using them, but I do ok with them. I'm using them again as it's been a couple of years and I want to brighten up.

I have done the Zoom twice-most recently about 2 weeks ago. My main issue with Zoom and the band (my first Zoom was preband) is that my band doctor doesn't want us drinking out of straws, and drinking with a straw is encouraged after Zooming because it prevents staining. As I drink a lot of coffee and tea, this is a big issue for me. So, I sit here now sipping a glass of tea knowing that I'll just have to have Zoom more frequently. The process isn't all that painful. You do have to sit for about 45 mins with your mouth held open and stuffed with gauze, but it doesn't bother me at all. I would check around with dentists in your area. I paid a fortune the first time I had it done, but this second time, I went to a dentist who does free Zoom (does not include the trays--but you can follow up with white strips) with exam, x-rays, and cleaning--so mine was free this time with the services that were paid for by my dental insurance. Oh, and my teeth are usually sensitive for a day or two after, but it's not all that bad.

My husband and I use Crest Whitestrips! They work very well. Put it this way...my husband had a cap on his front tooth (20 years old). He ended up replacing it recently. He had to because his capped tooth looked yellow compared to his others (cap tooth doesn't whiten).

I had it done.............no pain at all! Best of all it was free! My wife works for a dentist.

I am a dental hygienist I have never done the zoom but have friends that have it does cause tooth sensitivity it will eventually go away but will take some time. Ask for some fluoride it may help there is also a zoom 2 out that is suppose to decrease the sensitivity I prefer tray whiting we use BriteWhite I have never had any one complain about sensitivity if you still have you trays you could just get some gel use it for 2 weeks 1 hr a day and then I know it is a pain but you should touch up once a month for just 30 min not bad for a brite white smile
