Recommended Posts

I know a while back someone had ask about tanning and having the lapband but couldn't remember what people had said! Is it ok to tan with the band?

It wont hurt the band. Be prepared for an onlsaught of self righteous abuse from non tanners though.... lol. You're a grown up and no doubt know what it can do to your skin, but it wont hurt the band.

hey there! Okay, I am a bit of a envangelistic anti-real-tanner BUT I am an avid Mystic Tanner. Mystic tanning is a spray tan booth that is in many regular tanning salons. It's a booth that you step into..you don't have to strip down in front of anyone...you are in private and you just turn around as the vocal recorded instructions tell you to do.

It's AMazing! And I don't have to worry about aging my skin, getting skin cancer, etc. AND it's a nice dark tan that lasts a week AND it makes me look thin and cool...well in my opinion...lol. It's made from aloe vera and brown sugar and it's awesome. Doesn't wear off on your clothes. AND most importantly...NOBODY guessed it was a spray tan--it's not orange at all...looks completely authentic.

Just make sure you follow the simple instructions on putting lotion on your palms and elbows and the bottom of your feet so they don't get tanned.

I go get a mystic tan before I go out somewhere when i want to look great and i do it more often in the summer.

PLEASE reconsider real tanning and go for mystic tanning. I've seen too many people get melanoma and it's not pretty in any way. (sorry, I know i'm on my soap box).

however...I LOVE to look tanned and isn't this a nice compromise?

Good luck!

hugs,

BandedKitten

Actually, you should be fine with Tanning after lap band Surgery. You might want to consider putting some small bandages over your scars, as the incision area will be VERY sensitive for quite a while post-surgery.

Other than that, there is not a problem in the world with tanning. Nothing to worry about at all. Not a THING to be concerned about.

Unless, of course, you have skin.

If you ARE one of the few and unfortunate people who require skin to keep everything tucked nicely inside of you, well, then you might have some problems with tanning. Because, of course, tanning DOES promote (some say causes) skin cancer. And of course, those people who DO have skin look absolutely horrid after years in a tanning booth or in the sun…their skin loses its elasticity, loses its moisture, wrinkles horribly…..just awful.

But, like Jachut said, you're an adult. You're mature. And BECAUSE you're an adult and are mature, you wouldn't possibly think doing anything stupid like Tanning, right? I mean, you've gone to all the effort to lose a bunch of weight with the Lap Band, theoretically improving your health…..Why would you move in the OPPOSITE direction on the oustside?

So, just be grateful that you don't have skin. It would be a shame to burn it up like that.

Oh, and with regard to Jachut's comment about "self-righteous" people "abusing" you for suggesting that Skin Cancer is something you really do NOT want to experience….well, that is simply remarkable and unbelievable, seeing as how Jachut herself has been dealing with cancer herself for the last few months. And she seems to think its ok for someone else to expose themselves to another form of the same thing. Guess she wants someone else to join in the fun, Hmm?

Unbelievable. Absolutely incredible.

S.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
