Insurance Approved but scared as hell :0/

Recommended Posts

So just got the phone call that my surgery was approved !! As soon as I got off the phone, I was really excited ~ 5 minutes later the fears set in.... the what if's.

I know this is the best decision for me at this point in my life but I can't help but wonder .... What if something goes wrong- what if I fail ?!?

Also , do I tell my co-workers why I will be out for a week? Ughh so frustrating :0/

Don't be scared. Just remember this is the start of your new life. Or at least that is what I keep telling myself.

As for telling your co-workers....I told a few of mine and got alot of good reactions and then some bad ones. A few

people told me this is the lazy way to lose weight. My thoughts to them is until they have had a weight problem they

have no room to talk.

I completely understand where your coming from. I was approved in March and my surgery is set for May 9th. I am so scared of all the stuff people say that can go wrong. I have told everyone where I work and some have a good reaction and some have bad. One even told me that the Drs. were trying to play God and I said " well thats no different than you having back surgery, you had a problem and they fixed it with surgery, same as I have a weight problem and them trying to fix it with surgery." Everyone has surgery for problems in different areas, this is just a problem I have had for a long time. If I need an eye surgery so that I could see better and have a better quality of life then I would have it and this surgery is going to improve my quality of life emensly. I do worry about the what ifs but if I dont do something about my weight now its only going to get worse. Good luck to ya and wish you the best.

I have just started this process and I am retired, so my situation is different from yours, but here goes. I would not make a major announcement over the PA or in a staff meeting, but I would tell the people I work closest with. They are going to wonder why you are gone and will see the results soon anyway. No need to worry them that you have some terrible disease that is causing you to lose so much weight. Just my $0.02 worth :-)

Dear Kelly, We are all in this together and for the ones who say this is the lazy way out, well like I told a lady this week, this is anything but the lazy out, are these people stupid , I will be banded within the next month and 1/2 , but my son-in-law was banded in feb and it has been anything but easy, by the way he has already lost 42 lbs, and now is doing fine but it can be hard at times but thats where we all can support each other. Forget what they say and think of how good you will look as that weight starts to leave. Good luck. hopeful one

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
