My first meeting of my insurance-required 12-week program is on May 12th.

While I'm still cutting back and cleaning up my eating, I'm going to use this as my "jump-off-point" to my new life.

I'd love to add some friends to my account on that day if it's alright with you gentlemen?

Thanks guys!

My MFP account name is RADA9933

Tomorrow night is the first of 12 mandatory classes before my surgery.

I had planned on having one last "forbidden meal" today but spent the weekend praying to the porcelain god with the stomach flu.

I'm really hungry, but the thought of eating is a bit intimidating after being so sick for three days.

I had planned on having one last "forbidden meal" today but spent the weekend praying to the porcelain god with the stomach flu.

My wife and I called them "Food Funerals". Had some between insurance approval and pre-surgical diet. Best was Cracker Barrel Breakfast with country fried streak, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs and hash brown casserole... the thought of eating that much food in one sitting is disgusting now, but my old stomach sure did love it! :-)

I think that's where I am now...I can have just about anything I want in limited quantity, but I now I don't even want half of the stuff I used to eat. Liking the new me way too much to go back to the old me, so that's what I keep telling myself whenever I do get the urge every now and then. The thing is when you're in maintenance mode, it's a bit hard at first, since you feel a bit lost...even now I can't seem to get away from the frequent weigh-ins, just to make sure I'm still good. The only thing I really deal with is the harder I work out, the hungrier I am...but I imagine that should make sense, right??

I look at your diary on MFP now and then. I applaud your commitment to track everything and all the exercise you log. I'm amazed at the amount of food you are able to intake. Granted I am only 10 weeks in and no where near goal. I'm sure at some point i will get beyond the small increments I eat at now.

Believe me, you most certainly will!!! You're doing great so far, please just keep up the good work!! As for me, once I hit goal and was in maintenance mode, I tried to continue to log EVERYTHING, if for no other reason, to keep me honest!! One of the mistakes I made in the past is once I lost a bit of weight, I got complacent, started relaxing, and then started splurging a bit, and then the weight came back!! What you'll find is once you do hit maintenance mode and can eat more, you'll actually NEED to have more, to fuel the body since you have the energy and ability to do more...keeping a detailed log is just my way of assuring that I don't go nuts and go overboard!!!

Wishing you much success my friend!!!

Gents, I just bought my FITBIT today and am amused at all the tracking it does. Got the cheap FLEX on sale at the sadly to be defunct Radio Shack. Short of asking for a urine sample, it seems to do what I need. So from the sound of it, you guys are recommending MyFitnessPal. Since I've been buying my supplements from BodyBuilding.com I was tempted to try their fitness programs. Too advanced for a guy who hasn't benched 275 since high school. Will take your word for it and try it out. Thanks.

I know this is a MFP message, but I'm sure lots of us have fitbits, too. Anyone interested in being fitbit friends, too? Think we need emails to friend on fitbit, or Facebook, but I'm not on that anymore... Message me and I'll request you.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
