I'm all ears girlie! I had my actual surgery (due to insurance) and first fill at the Hurst location, but everthing else went through the Richardson location. If you need any surgeon/surgery specific information I can ask my friend who was banded at the Richardson location (Dr. Bienvenedes).

Hey! Thanks for the reply. I have my consultation on March 30th and my surgery on April 1st. I am paying cash so I didnt have to go through all that extra stuff. I havent even seen a doctor yet. I live in Downsville, Louisiana so I am about 5 hours away from the richardson facility. I am on the 2 week pre op diet. I am having my ekg and blood work on March 30th. And getting the results March 31st and lap band on April 1st. They had said something about putting me up in a hotel for one night after surgery?? Did you do that? What tests did you have? Where they friendly??

Thanks!

I had my band done with the True Results/Fort Worth Lap Band center with Dr. Smith. I drove to the surgery center in Hurst to get my surgery done. All in all my experiences with them have been quite pleasant and they are incredibly nice! Because I'm local I didn't need to stay in a hotel, but I imagine this is so you're close by just in case anything should happen. The only test that I had to take was a blood test just to check my cell counts and make sure I was okay to have surgery. Oh yeah...and a pregnancy test when I was called back into the pre-op area (which I thought was hilarious). I was overall very pleased with my experience there and my follow up care has been good as well. I had my first fill just last week and was scared to death - and as it turns out I was scared for no reason. The doctor that did the fill, Dr. Slicho, was the nicest guy you ever want to meet.

Whatever doctor you have you will see him March 30th, I am assuming this is your pre-op appointment. Mine with Dr. Marsden was a group setting and I didn't like it. I had done extensive research, so alot of the questions and comments were old news to me. He's also a very liberal doctor and told us to try carbonated beverages and see if they agreed with us. LOL! Make sure you fast the morning of your blood work otherwise they can't do it. I made the mistake and ate that morning, so I had to go to Quest on a Saturday morning (just ruined my whole day waiting). I had the EKG, where they put the sticky things all over my chest and stomach and another test where I blew into a machine. I did get put up in a hotel because I too live in LA, about 4 hours away. Make sure when you come March 30th you remind whoever told you that they would put you up in a hotel and they will book it for you on the spot and print out your hotel confirmation. I am assuming it was your patient advocate, mine was Amanda Bancroft, so just remind whoever told you that. Everyone is pretty friendly and helpful. Although I am still trying to get my insurance to pay for this $300 bloodwork bill. True Results has yet to send them required paperwork. Also, since you are going through True Results they will handle up all your aftercare, so don't be surprised if you never see your surgeon again. I only saw mines 3 times: once for EGD, pre-op appointment, and surgery. The PAs are okay. When I went to my first fill at the Richardson location I knew I needed one because I was still getting hungry the PA told me I shouldn't really be eating Cereal in the morning because of the carbs and then she said something about me not knowing what true hunger felt like. She kinda pissed me off, but I digress. The second one was much better. She complimented me on my weightloss and really made me feel like I could finally lose weight. All and all it's not so bad. Let me know if you have any other questions!

I had my surgery at True Results in Richardson April 13, 2010. My surgeon was DR. Fox and I think he is wonderful. Yes, they did put me in a very nice hotel that night of my surgery so I would be close. Dr Fox called that night, my Post Op nurse called me that afternoon and the following moring Dr. Fox called again before I left the hotel to head home. All the PA's at True Results are extremely good. Iwas a self pay too and it came with a year of visits. I have not had to pay anything...Ofcourse, my year is up now so it is getting that time...ha ha....I have lost 92 pounds since my surgery. I want to loose about 25 more pounds. I wish you good luck! Keep us posted!

Hi

I am being banded at the Richardson Surgery Ctr on 03/30/11 by Dr. Benavides. I am a cash patient as well so the entire process has gone pretty quick. My initial consult was 03/02 and I had my EGD on 03/16 , it was a breeze. The staff at True results as well as the surgery ctr have been extremely nice. I have been able to have all of my questions answered.

I hope I have helped a little :)

Good Luck

Hi, yes my dr. is dr. marsden also and my patient advocate is Amanda also! Thanks so much for all you info! It really does help alot! So Dr. Marsden is an ass? I just need him to do his job and shut up lol. I dont have a regular physician here at home do you think this will be a problem I know in the paperwork they ask about it. Is there anything special i need to bring? Do they do the surgery at the True Results facility?

Thanks

Amanda

No, he's not an ass (unless you consider a doctor telling you to against the band "rules" an ass). He was willing to answer all the questions I had, was very reassuring to me (that I could get under 200 lbs.), and he came out after surgery and talked to my boyfriend. My boyfriend really liked him. He showed him a picture of my band and told him I was doing fine. I don't have a regular physician either. I don't forsee that being a problem. The only thing you need to bring is your money, just make sure you don't wear any make-up, jewelry, or hairpins the day of surgery and wear some slip on shoes and pants, socks, and a loose fitting shirt. I wore a sports bra, so I didn't have to worry with the hooks. Your body probably is going to be exhausted after the surgery, at least mine was, but I also had hiatal hernia repair. I would make sure that you have already gotten your prescription for the pain meds and take them as soon as you get in the car. Also, bring a comfy pillow and maybe a blanket for the 5 hour drive. I didn't have my actual surgery at the Richardson location, but I do think they do it at the True Results facility. The place where you do the consultation is in the back, but in the front (closer to the shopping centers, I think there's an optometrist's office next door) is where the surgey and aftercare centers are. The surgery center is on the left and the aftercare center (this is where you get your fills at) is on the right. Let me know if you have anymore questions, I'll be sure to answer them!

Hi Thanks for the info, was wondering about the bloodwork you had at Quest, do you remeber the cost and what kind of lab work was it, this is not covered in the $9,900 i dont believe.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
