How many surgeons did you visit before you were banded?

Recommended Posts

Tomorrow I go to my info seminar regarding the lapband. I am very excited to be starting the official process. I feel like I have educated myself through the web, this board and from 3 coworkers who have also been banded. All 3 coworkers were banded by the same office, which is the one I will be attending tomorrow. They all 3 have nothing but wonderful things to say about the surgeon and his office. I have also read nothing but good things about him on this board and the web (BTW, it's Dr Carcamo in San Antonio). But still, I feel like if I go tomorrow and love him also, should I still seek out another opinion from another surgeon? Is there another surgeon out there that I would like more? So my question is - how many surgeons did you meet with before deciding on "the one"?

I honestly just met with one. I went to his seminar and liked him and I looked at reviews on his website. So I went with him

Only 2 in Fla. Medicare qualified & 1 of them had John Daly as her patient. After seeing his success, there was no questions. I made the right decision.

I interviewed 6. I went to their seminars, got their particular requirements, asked questions and then made my decision.

My family doctor told me to find a doctor I was comfortable with because I would be having a long relationship with them. I found my doctor at the first seminar I went too. So if you are comfortable with this doctor then don't worry about seeing other doctors. That was the best advice I was given so I wanted to pass it on.

Where I am language is a great barrier between doctors and patients, so when I met with one out of the two doctors I had appointments with, I was sold because he was fluent in English.

He is also a plastics doc so I dont have to worry about problems with plastics and my band which is a bonus :)

I only sent to one seminar and met with one surgeon. I was however refered by my ortho doc whom I trust completely. He has operated on both of my parents numerous times and will also be doing my ortho surgeries (unfortunately, several coming down the pike in the next few years). I say if you like them and are content with them, why search for more?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
