I think i need more than that. I have not lost any weight in a week in a half. I read on here that you should have between 1200 and 1400 calories a day. thanks for your help.

Hi gregt...While I haven't had my surgery yet that is actually something I asked my nutritionist about. She suggested I just add an additional scoop of Protein powder to my shakes. So if my brand says a serving size is 1 scoop, I will just add 2 scoops for the extra calories. I'm not sure if you are using RTD or are making your Protein Shakes yourself, but if you are making them yourself you might want to try this out and see if it works for you. I'm sure some people in the post-op section would have some great ideas as well. Good luck to you!

I would LOVE to hear more advice on this too! I'm 2 /12 weeks post op and I'm in the same boat. Getting around 500-600 calories a day, but not losing any more weight. Try posting this in the post-op section and see if you get more responses.

It's tough for them to monitor their carb intake when weeks 2 and 3 are usually the puree/mushy stage. No staying strong about it.

Real advice: My doctor says that at this stage you'll eat items you won't normally eat later. The idea at this stage is to heal, and get your stomach ready for food again. You may still be swollen from surgery. It's about healing now over losing weight. pureed foods will normally be higher in carbs unless you feel like blending up chicken in a blender and drinking it...barf!

I'm moving to soft solids from the puree stage, and here are some foods I ate during that stage to help boost Protein amounts:

Greek yogurt w/ pureed fruit. Plain lo fat greek yogurt is so packed full of Protein. I used organic baby food food for the fruit - it was actually yummy.

Campbell's Vegatable Beef Soup. Chew the beef bits well or throw the whole Soup in a blender to puree it down.

I did pulse blend some chicken to add to other creamy Soups - very tasty.

Cottage cheese

Soft, low fat cheese like Laughing Cow wedges or Babybel

Ricotta cheese w/ pureed fruit

Egg Beaters

Low fat refried Beans w/ low fat cheese and a dab of plan greek yogurt. Plain greek yogurt tastes a lot like sour cream.

Edd salad - well blended and chopped w/ low fat mayo

Go to the Nutrition / Diet section of the forum for great mushy food ideas. I found it SO SO helpful for recipes and ideas!

Good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
