What is my Problem?

Recommended Posts

What the heck? I've been so good and the past couple days I seem to have zero self control! I feel like a growing toddler who wants to constantly eat! I haven't been like this at all since being banded, what's the deal? I don't dare weigh myself because I know I must be upping the scale now! Obviously I can't consume huge amounts of food at one time, but we know we can still be bad!! Has anyone had this happen or felt so out of control with their cravings? I thought I was on track......

Mattie,

Yes this has happened with me but I am extremely carb sensitive. Not the carbs found in vegies, but I've found I have to avoid the types of carbs found in sugar or wheat products. I'm pretty sure it's because of the impact they have on blood sugar levels. I also discovered that I had to eliminate the artificial sweeteners because just the taste of 'sweet' started the cravings.

You are not alone! I think sometimes we get lulled into thinking the food demons are gone forever when we've been doing so well with the band. I've had long periods of doing really well and then for no apparent reason binge on whatever sugar and chocolate I can find. Definately a work in progress. I think one of the greatest things about the band is not eliminating any unnecessary eating but the ability to recover from it. I feel your frustration and wish you all the best :)

I think it is a struggle for most of us. My mind seems to think I can still eat the way I used to, but my band won't let me. I can't tell you how many times I've gone out to a restuarant and order a meal thinking "I'll be able to eat it this time". But, I never can. I also have a problem with sweets. It seems like I go in spells. I rationalize eating sweets it internally because I'm not eating as many calories as I did in the past. I know this slows my weight loss down, but it is a never ending struggle - at least for me it is.

I still get the munchies every month while I'm PMSing; I usually allow myself to indulge a little, as my periods are pure torture  and life pretty much sucks around that time. Of course, I still have to be aware of what I eat; luckily, most cravings go away after that, and don't have a permanent effect on the scale. I'm sure it's not the same for everyone, but that's how I deal with it. :)

Definitely. The last couple of days or so I've been hungrier (I think?- maybe head hunger) than usual. I may have pinpointed it to trying to shortchange myself of Protein at lunch. We'll see if I can make that small adjustment and be less obsessed with food.< /p>

Wow thanks everyone for letting me know I'm not alone! And ElfiePoo, your quote just made a lightbulb go off in my head.

Of course, that's it! Since my fill last week I've felt restriction...and even experienced some stuck episodes, so I've been avoiding foods I must chew and eating more carbs! DUH! That makes all the sense in the world! The more carbs we eat, the more we crave!! THANKS a million, now I know what to do!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
