Recommended Posts

Im preparing to have the lap band done ..hopefully within the month . The only problem is that my husband wants another child and Im 40 years old . Does anyone know how long you have to wait before having a pregnancy? I really didnt want to wait more then 6 months because of my age ..Im just not sure if that safe or not ?

My doc said they would like at least 1 year, 2 would be preferable

I am 25 and plan to have kids soon (within 3-4 yrs hopefully) and my dr told me that I have to wait AT LEAST 18 months but more like 2 - 2 1/2 yrs is preferred. I think they ask you to wait because your stomach is still healing (and other medical reason I don't remember but I made sure to ask before surgery) and because your first year is when you're at your honeymoon stage of your surgery. That's when most of your weight should come off. That's when your metabolism is at it's highest. Plus the first yr is when you have mostly all of your fills. I'm sure there are other reasons but I would talk to your dr if I were you. You might want to wait till after you have the baby.

Good luck!

I was told a minimum of 18 months. Insurance actually required me to sign something confirming that I wasn't planning on getting preggers before then. From what I understand, when you get preggers while banded, they deflate the band to allow you properly nourish the baby. Everyone's docs are so different though, so you might get a couple of different perspectives on this.

Good luck to you!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
