I had my surgery about a year ago. I have lost 64 pounds, which is good, but I just feel that I should have lost more than this with the band. I was hoping to find someone for some encouragement and accountability. Anyone have any encouragement for me? Been through the same situation and now seeing the light at the end of a tunnel?

Thanks.

Hi there,

Firstly, I think you are doing fabulous! Just think 64lbs are totally gone from your body! How COOL is that?!

Yes, I would've like the fairy to wave her magic wand and have all this weight gone in just a few months.lol

But seriously, my weightloss plan is for 3 years; my surgeon and his team designed it this way on purpose. The first year 50lbs, years 2 and 3 25lbs each year. As of August I was 1 year out and had lost 46lbs. As of today I am down 56. It's slower than part of me would like but I am doing it this way for a reason:

I know myself well enough to know that I cannot follow a super rigid low calorie diet -- sure maybe I could for a short time, but trust me once the weight is gone, I KNOW I would be back up the scale in no time. I'm going slow on purpose so these new eating habits can become ingrained into my head as "normal" so that hopefully they will stick with me for years to come and I will actually be able to maintain my loss.

There is an old saying the slower the weight comes off the longer it stays off. A girlfriend of mine has been going to WW for YEARS and she's lost 25lbs over 2 years. She always apologizes and feels badly that it took so long to lose the weight, but you know what? It is STAYING off her. Just hang in there and focus on how far you have come. You are doing wonderful!

Hi, 64lbs please pat yourself on the back. You have done great. My surgeon’s told me at my initial consultation that my ideal weight is 150lbs which means I’m about 130lbs overweight. He was real honest and said that the band would only help me lose about 60% of that. This means I’m going into this expecting to lose 78lbs. I haven’t been banded yet but I think 78lbs is great and I’m looking forward to being that much lighter. Good Luck to you.

Im in the same spot as you, when i first get a fill, i droped 20 pounds fast, like 2 weeks fast now its been a long strugle to get the next 10 pounds off, I now know i need another fill as I have stoped losing. It sucks looking at the fact that so many are saying o i have droped this much or that much and you just sit there not doing anything.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
