One Year and Five months post surgery??

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

My name is Amy. I am 34 years old. I was banded on 08/09. I have had a really tough year and have lost no wieght. I was doing the overnight shift at my job and I had gotten very ill after my surgery. I thought going into surgery would solve everything but really does not. When they tell you it is a life style change it really is. I have struggled with my wieght for my whole life. I thought my first year after being banded I would be half the wieght I am but it didnt. I think I gave up on myself. But you really shouldn't do that . As of this past monday I made a choice to get thin if it kills me! lol.... I went back to my surgeron because I got so mad that over the summer I had them take out all of the 7cc adjustments out of the band. I got sick on steak and I was so pissed off! It is very upsetting to have to throw up outside of the resturant when your out to dinner with your loved ones. I deceided to follow to the food plan this time. I am made a effort to go back to my nuturtionist. And my surgeron is very happy that I haven't given up... I can tell you that it is a minute by minute struggle with my wieght. I have lost 9 pounds since monday. But I started at 336 and I am only down to 323. Monday I was 332. Its rough but its get better. Make sure you have the support of your family and loved ones and get as much help as needed from your surgeon. Don't let them give up on you! And if you have sleep apena get a machine before you have your surgery or you will come out will a sever lung infection.

If anyone needs someone to talk to my email is amymwayne@gmail.com. I love to meet a new friend who has the same struggles as me !

Welcome!

I'm so glad you have chosen to get back on the "band-wagon". Now that you know what is ahead, it takes courage to do it and I applaud you for taking this first step! I'm four years out and maintaining five pounds from my goal. The best advise I can give you is to give yourself lots of distraction. Pick up a hobby, if you don't have one already, clean closets, read books, spend time with friends, (not over food), get a pet, etc, etc. Keep yourself very busy so you won't get bored and start eating too much. It will also start to prepare you for your more energetic life as a thin person.

Good luck on your journey!

Thanks for sharing. I'm glad you are giving it another try. I have given up steak. I accept the fact that I just can not eat it and now I don't even miss it. I agree with the above poster about staying busy with a hobby or something. When I'm busy I don't have the urge to graze as much. I hope things start getting better for you and the weight starts dropping. Keep in contact with your surgeon's office even if you are feeling like it's not working. It sounds like he will be there for you. Pop in here LBT and read what other bandsters post. Some of it will be very helpful with little details along the way.

[i had my 10cc band placed on 8/24/10 it is a slow process however it is the best thing that I have ever done weight loss related. I find that it is hard to stay away from the chocolate and other sweets, but holidays are over and they wont be lying around so much. Keep trying and listen to your band it works just be patient this time around.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
