Went into the dr today for a fill. He was unable to get the needle in the port. Went to the hospital and couldn't get it in under xray or floro. Said the port was moving and wants to do another surgery to see what is going on. I am really bummed and am ready to give up. How hard is it to go see another dr? I want a second opinion before dishing out the money for a surgery.

Could they look at it with ultrasound?

Im so sorry you are having this difficulty. You can try to find another surgeon but good luck on that one. Most wont take another surgeons patient because of the liability. I moved and had to find another one and only because I worked in surgery he took me on as a patient all the others I called would not take me. Sometimes the port can move or malfunction it happens. I would rather them go in and look surgically to make sure there is no problems then to find out by surprise that there is something wrong with it. Good luck

Which Band do you have ? If its the realize band are you aware that there is a recall as of Oct 2010 ?. Problems with tubeing flips which make fills impossiable. I had my tubing and port replaced April 2010 additional surgery was required. If you have the REALIZE band I check into the company being responsible for its replacement

I have had 2 port revision surgeries due to it flipping over. I am scheduled for an appointment under flueroscopy this coming Monday to see if it's happened again. It's very discouraging and I've only had a few fills in the 3 years since my surgery (most of them done while I was in the O.R.) I have continued to gain weight because I haven't had satiety for nearly a year and I am always hungry. The fear of finding out that I will have to endure yet another revision has kept me away from the doctors and from asking for a fill. I hope the your experience is better. I think that calling your doctor or making an appointment to be seen is in your best interests. Please don't put it off for fear of not liking what you might hear like I've been doing. 2011 is a new year and a new beginning, I hope things work out for you! Good Luck!
