    Ice Water Hurts

So glad to know it's not just me. It has been so hot lately and I am stuck drinking room temperature or warmer water. yuck! Oh how I long for a few icecubes!

    What ya eating tonight?

Renee thats my "go to" meal! I add one ounce of low fat part-skim cheese in top and let it melt, adds 7 more grams of protein. I haven't tried fresh fruits yet as I am on pureed till Aug 1st.
  3. I am SO bored with eating the same foods, I have 2 more weeks on the pureed stage. Any ideas or suggestions? I am not hungry to begin with and have begun to dread eating because the stuff just doesn't even taste good to me anymore. HELP!

Why am i freezing to death?

I often wonder this myself! I am 3.5 weeks post op and I am freezing, meanwhile everyone else is sweating buckets. It's been very warm and humid so my daughter constantly runs the AC. I am in sweats under a blanket on the couch, and I never leave the house without a sweater. Perhaps it's something with the changes taking place inside our bodies? I have hard that rapid weight loss can lead to being chilly. I hope it lets up soon thought, before I know it snow will be flying and I don't want to be a popsicle all winter!

    Sugar free fudgesicle

    I have one every day!
  6. I rely on Muscle Milk lite for my breakfast more often than not. I am SO incredibly tight in the morning that I am not able to eat anything. Today I tried some greek yogurt and had a very uncomfortable full feeling that I didn't like very much. I will stick to what I know works for me and Muscle Milk it is...and I actually think it's yummy!
  7. I have been banded for over four years. Just last evening was the first stuck episode I've had in a really long time and it was horrible! I was having eggs for dinner and only ate a few mouthfuls. I was in a hurry and know that I didn't chew them well enough. And, I paid dearly for it because it felt like I had swallowed a bowling ball. WOW! It hurt! When I get stuck it's usually on things that I shouldn't really be eating anyway. I tried one teeny tiny bite of a donut almost three years after my surgery and will NEVER as long as I live do it again. We were on a long roadtrip and I had to embarrass myself by asking to pull over as I paced on the turnpike to deal with the pain associated with being stuck. The excessive mouth watering isn't attractive either (unless you are a werewolf or something of the sort..lol) I also refrain from eating breads, pastas, and scrambled eggs, another no-no for me is french fries. Anytime I have ever been "stuck" it has been because of a concious choice made by me. I have learned to make better decisions over time in order to avoid the discomfort.
  8. I have done the 5 day pouch thing and had really good results. I will have to admit (grudgingly) that I was probably bending the rules a little which led to my decision to try it. I lost 8 pounds that week and got back on track. My portion sizes went back to 1/2 a cup and I felt full for longer periods of time between meals. Good luck!
  9. Today after my morning shower I grabbed for the first towel I could find and wrapped it around myself. After stepping out of the shower and heading to the mirror I discovered that it wasn't my "normal" beach towel sized towel but one of the "regular" towels that everyone else in the house uses! What a happy way to begin my day! It motivated me to spend an extra 30 minutes at the gym too! Yay me!

    Fill and fever?

I had a fill earlier today and have been feeling incredibly warm ever since. Has anyone else experienced this? I don't feel unwell or sick in any way just like someone is dumping hot water over my head. This has never happened after a fill before and I was just curious.

    A new NSV!

:bananajump: HORRAY FOR EVERYONE! It the small things that losing weight gives back to you. (some you didn't even know you were misssing) that make all of the hard work worthwhile!

    My Flipped Port Story

I have had two (yes two!) port revision surgeries for a flipped port. Both went without incident and I have been A-ok for the last 2.5 years! So glad to hear that things have been going well with you. Sorry you had the experience in the first place! Good luck on your journey!

    Hunger

My hunger kicked in 3-4 weeks after surgery and I was starving! I called the dr's office and asked the nurse if I was supposed to be hungry enough to eat the legs off of the table! LOL...she said yes because the swelling had gone down. How awesome for you to not be hungry that far post-op! I bet it feels good to be winning the war with hunger!

    Hunger

After being banded 3.5 years ago my struggles with hunger were pretty much over. I will say honestly that the first few weeks after the inital surgery when you are restricted to liquids and later mushy/soft foods you will be hungry. Probably right up until the first fill. (At least that was my experience and everyone is different) I eat three meals a day and hardly (if ever) snack, my hunger is controlled mainly by the food choices I make. Eating a good meal with alot of protein does the trick for me, I am currently going 4-6 hours between meals. On days when I exercise heavily I tend to be a little more hungry than others and usually have a few extra bites of protein to avoid becoming light-headed. Hope you find this helpful! Good luck on your journey!

    Stupid Question-Tanning

I was banded 3.5 years ago and have tanned each February/March (right before my family goes to Disney World in sunny Florida) with no problems at all. I would imagine that as long as your incisions have healed that you shouldn't have any worries. It wouldn't hurt to ask your doctor if you are really worried about it. I am sure they have heard it before and will have an answer one way or another for you. Good luck!

    BRA SIZE

I was a 44 i and now I am a 40DD...that's at least 4-5 cup sizes and I have only lost 30 pounds. Wait a while and if/when you are ready make that decision for yourself!

    Today I saw my........

I was just celebrating this NSV two days ago! I was showering and looked down and thought. WOW, my toes! Haven't seen them in awhile...and they are so skinny! Great job!

    Eating out in restaurants

I will be heading off to Disney in about three weeks and am planning on eating from the kid's meal menu almost exclusively. They don't ask questions there but hear at home geez! Do I get the funny looks! I had a waitress tell me that I wasn't permitted to order from the kid's or seniors menu. I have stopped eating at that particular restaurant just because of it. I will spend my money somewhere else and be skinny doing it!
  19. I have been tanning for the past two years (only for 1 month before our annual Disney trip) without any issues. I do the stand up booth once a week and lay down twice a week mainly because I enjoy the rest!

    Reappearing period?

I haven't had a period in 5 years (I am on Depo-provera shots) and since getting back on track and dropping 26 pounds I have had 2 periods in 3 weeks one of them was over 8 days long. I spoke to both my surgeons office and my ob/gyn doctor and they both made me feel like a total wackjob. Both of them said that losing weight has nothing to do with having or not having a period. I say HOGWASH!!!! The only thing that has changed in the recent past is my renewed committment to losing weight and exercising. I hate how they both acted like I was speaking a foreign language when I asked them about it, obviously it has some kind of connection or I wouldn't be reading all of your stories above. Guess I'll just keep track of my good old aunt Flo and see how often she comes around for a visit.

    To Fill or Not

I haven't been able to eat eggs for three years! I'd say if you are doing relatively well with all of your other solids that you don't need a fill. Just keep an eye on it and maybe make that decision a little later on.

    My small NSV

My latest NSV is that my underwear are too big...it's silly to be excited about having a saggy butt! But I will celebrate it nonetheless

    Incision Scars

It's been three years since I was banded and if I didn't know where to look for my scars I wouldn't be able to find them! The scar over my port was deep red for awhile and then it started to slowly fade. I don't recall the exact length of time it took but now it's barely visible.
  24. I had a month long period shortly after being banded. Prior to that I hadn't had a period for over 5 years. Imagine my suprise! Surgery is very stressful on the body and the body responds in some pretty whacked up ways. Hope you are feeling better soon!

    NSV

Good job! Each NSV is better than the next, it's the little thing that you have been missing out on for years that mean the most. I can touch my toes (and I do it often just to prove it to myself..lol) My jeans are hanging off my bottom and suprisingly my shoes are getting floppy. Enjoy each new victory! You work hard for them and you deserve each one!
