Year End Update for May 2010 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Just wanted to see how all the May 2010 bandsters are doing. I am doing well...averaging about 7 pounds a month. I am going to the gym and exercising 4-5x/wk. I will be honest and, at times, I have eaten foods that easily pass through the band (i.e. cakes, Cookies, etc) but in NO WAY the amount that I had in the past. My band has served me well but I am still a food addict and have to watch myself very closely. I have had stuck episodes, vomited 1 or 2 times, etc. I have been through it all but feel those were learning situations.

So how are you all doing????

Happy Holidays,

Katie

I have lost 54 lbs since I had the surgery May 31, 2010 and have dropped 4 clothing sizes. I feel like this past month I have plateaued. I don't think I have lost anything this month but everyone says they can tell I have lost more. My scale tells me something different. I go in for fill #5 tomorrow so we will see what the "official" weight loss total is. I still occassionally have moments of things getting stuck. I have found that eggs are not my friend and neither are my favorite veggies (green Beans and broccoli). Sigh. I have to be honest that I haven't been working out nearly as much as I should this past month and a half but I am getting back in the routine of working out after Christmas. Wedding plans and moving have definitely interfered with me working out regularly. I am hoping this next fill will get me back on track. I need to lose another 20 lbs by April so I can fit into my wedding dress! :-)

Merry Christmas everyone!

My experience hasn't been very good. I had to have surgery again in October due to my port flipping. I've lost about 20lbs haven't really changed clothing sizes maybe close to one size. I'm pretty dissapointed. I have nothing but problems with my band. I'm hoping to get it all figured out SOON!

bummed :(

Just saw your update as I have not logged on in months, I have only lost 5 pounds since Christmas and have been sliding back to old habits. I decided that I would start reading on thi ssight at least once a week and maybe get excited again.

Mterry....5 pounds is 5 pounds! Think of what would have happened through the holidays WITHOUT the band! Plus you should be SO proud of 54 pounds! Congratuations!!!!

I have said it before to myself a thousand times...the band is around my stomach, not my brain. All the cravings and habits can tend to eventually creep back in, even when I don't want them to. I have been going to OA for almost 2 years (1 year before the band) and I am in better (but not total) control of my eating habits. It is a journey for me. Some people after banding even still go to weight watchers or a routine nutritionist appointment just to stay on track. At then end of the day....does the food taste better than thin feels or better blood pressure or lower cholesterol, etc....? It is about choices and you have obviously made awesome choices along the line having lost 54 pounds! You know how to do this...you are SO worth it!

Good luck,

Katie

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
