Hi - I had my surgery on Thursday and today I am having serious pain in my lower right side (not at incision site) also terrible gas - has anyone else had this experience.

Lower right side? It must be gas. I had my surgery on Thursday as well. I had pain at the port site and on the top of my left shoulder, radiating up behind my ear. It is beginning to subside. I tired simethicone for gas and I think it has helped. I've been fairly mobile, although yesterday I think I overdid it. If I hadn't been distracted by shopping, I would have pooped out a lot earlier. Today I've been taking it easy. I went for a walk in the snow for 15 mins. and pushed some snow around my driveway. The beautiful sunny weather lifted my spirits. I'm back on the couch now.

What I don't get is how hungry I am. I can suck back a 250 ml (8 oz) Protein shake in 10 mins. What is up with that. I'm drinking 4 a day. I can also swallow fairly large Vitamins. So much for all the liquid and chewable vitamins I bought to replace all my big fatties.

Good luck with your pain.

C.

I had quite a lot of pain the first two days after surgery -- on my side, shoulder, and yes, gas. Just take pain meds and give it a few days. I had my surgery Wednesday, and Thursday and Friday, I was useless and in bed all day. Today, I'm feeling much better, although the air in the shoulder and the gas is still hanging around, but diminishing.

The gas pain can last awhile. I didnt take pain meds at all. It wasnt necessary for me. They make me feel worse. I just gas-ex and got up and moved around alot. I had gas pains on and off for almost 2 weeks. My back hurt so bad for quite a few days just after surgery. It does pass but if something ever doesnt feel right, call your Doc. Congrats and good luck.

Great advice for a the pain and gas.

Just remember that you just had your band put in and while you may experience natural swelling from the surgery your band is not 'turned on' yet. So until you have your first fill you very well may be able to eat and drink quite normally (especially as a few weeks passes) and you will probably feel like, "Hey, this thing isn't working!"

At about 2 1/2 weeks in I had to call my docs office with just that complaint. I was in a bit of a minor panic. I said, I'm hungry and I can eat and drink anything I want. They reminded me that essentially the band is in but not turned on yet.

After I had my first fill at 4 weeks and started to feel that restriction and sense of fullness after much less food.

It's just all part of the journey. Just keep asking questions and you'll do great.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
