I'm in the 170s! I can't believe it!

Heather, your comment about being the weight on your driver's license made me laugh. I just realized that I weigh less than I did when I graduated from high school 22 long years ago. Wow! I still have almost 30 pounds to get to my driver's license weight - which I never ever actually weighed! Don't know how I thought I was getting away with putting 150 on there!

Hello,

I had my refill almost 2 weeks ago and am now feeling restriction, I love it and the weight is coming off, too. :D I have to be careful, after a dinner party last PM I was thirsty and drank some Water too fast. I guess my pouch was too full for it so up it came! :o I am sticking to shakes and soft foods today to rest my stomach and esophagus. I had a little reflux while sleeping last PM that reinforces my need to let my system rest, I don't want a repeat of what happened before with the vomiting daily, reflux nightly and deflates! :(

I think my license has my weight at 185, I guess we all lie about our weight!

Joan

Glad to hear things are moving again, Joan! Hopefully you won't have the same issues this time around.

My drivers license says 250 which was a HUGE lie because I was about 330 at the time...now I weigh 235 so it's actually too high!

BTW, I hit 90 lbs lost on Saturday!! I still have a ways to go but I can't believe I am 10 lbs away from 100!

Hello, Everyone. My six month anniversary is Wednesday. That's my official weigh-day, so we'll see how it goes.

I'm on the slow train like a few others here. I usually don't post that often because my stats pale in comparison to everyone else. Yes, I've lost more banded than I would have normally, but it's still a LOT less than I anticipated. But I said I wasn't going to complain this time. Instead, I'll share my good news. I can fit a size 14 pants!!! I gave away all of my 18's and I'm piling up the 16's. I've been shopping at the thrift stores and finding all kind of good stuff.

Although my clothes were fitting differently and I had lost 25 pounds on the scale, I still wasn't too convinced. Then one of my friends (she was banded Jan 20) came and we took pic's of each other. OMG, I really have lost weight. I look pretty good :-)

Lastly, my friend had to get an unfill for a couple of days. We went out to eat and she ate until she was stuffed. She was so miserable and said she did not miss that at all. Just watching her was enough for me. We talked about the difference between being full and being restricted. I'm learning to stop at restriction and not waiting to feel full. It may sound really simple to some people, but it was an "aha moment" for the two of us. It's made a difference since my fill a week and half ago. I know that eventually the pounds will fall off. They better, I've been working out three days a week since March!

I'm gonna have a true test of willpower this weekend. I'm going upstate to visit my grandmother and relatives. Now my grandmothers Italian and loves to cook. So it's going to be a bit hat because of course she's a great cook. I'm going to try hard to limit things. I've been hungry and need to make an appointment for a fill so it may be harder. I'm going to bring my rollerblades with me and try to go rollerblading in the mornings so I can have some exercise. I'll be ok just coming back at the same weight, just no gain please.

My 6 month anniversary was yesterday!! WOW... I'm half way to my goal. I figuring that by next Xmas, I'll be close to or at my goal weight. WOW... I'm sooooooooo excited!!!

Yesterday I had to get some blood work done.... re-evaulate everything since I've lost so much weight. Funny thing happened............

The lab tech notice that it said on the blood work order ~ reason for blood work is due to weight loss. She mentioned that she had also lost lots of weight recently on the Actkins diet. She now weighs 176... WHAT????? That's 2 pounds MORE than what I weight now... how could that be???? She was twice as big as me. I coulde fit both my legs into one of her pant legs....... Either she is VERY FLUFFY or... I'm very muscluar...

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Do I perceive myself wrong???

I'm so happy to now be in a comfortable (almost loose) size 12 jeans.

No way that Lab Tech could be in the same size.

I, too, have lost slower than most yet faster than I would w/out the band. Partly due to not having as much as some to lose but also "that's just how it is."

I had my picture taken at my 6 month checkup and I look MUCH better, plus my BP is now normal, my carpal tunnel and plantars fascitis are gone and my knees don't hurt and swell anymore. It really is interesting to watch people eat, a favorite past time of mine, lol. They eat SO musch that it is kinda gross. Day by day we will get there!

I think maintaining sounds like a great goal. Have fun! I am Italian too so I know all about the food, lol! I look like my Italian aunts and grandma body wise, not my tall, thin mother, lol. I am not meant to be really thin, will always be shapely. :)

I know what you mean about perception and different sizes. She probably lost a lot of muscle or is shorter than you, or is lying, lol. I am doing that now w/ age now that I am 50. I think, "they look older, younger..."

Congratulations on your success!!!:D

I went in for a little defalte today, .25cc. My portions have been great but I have vomited a bit and had bad reflux last night while sleeping.< /p>

I am hoping this is my sweet spot!

Enjoy your 4th of July! If you'd like to join, a new challenge starts today. It is called "FreedomChallenge" and is under the post op section.

My coverage at work fell through and I couldn't go on my trip, so I don't have to worry about that. I will go to my parents for a BBQ on Monday though. I'm sure I'll be fine there.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL
