Feel Like I Lost My Best Frenemie

Recommended Posts

Hello

I was banded last week on Nov 24/10 and am trying to remain positive during this difficult period. To be honest, I kinda feel like I lost a best friend, albeit a "frenemie" and yes, I'm talking about food! I've been a little depressed but mostly I think it's because I've been so hungry during this 'liquid' phase. I'm back to work and that has helped occupy my mind but, boy oh boy, it's hard! That said, I don't regret my decision to get the lapband at all. I am excited & ready for a change & know it's gonna get easier! (it's gotta get easier, right?!?!) LOL!

El-Diva ... I am with you we are in bandster hell. I am completing my last day of the liquid phase. I have my first doctor visit tomorrow @ 2 weeks post op and I can move on to the mushie phase. To be honest I'm not planning to use the blender ... the thought of blended foods makes me nauseas.

During the liquid phase I tried some soft foods on Thanksgiving day (mashed potatoes, green Beans, cranberry sauce) and it all was absorbed well. A couple of nights ago I had a baked potato and last night I had some tuna from a pre packaged option.

I returned to work this week which has helped but the first day was hard to sit at my desk all day. Other than the two soft foods I added this week I drink a 20 oz. bottle of Isoprol Protein drink, a glass or 2 of Water, and have a fruit cup for lunch. I am not too hungry most of the time because I am always drinking something to try to stay full. I haven't started any exercising because I honestly don't feel like I have the strength to do so ... it takes all I have to complete my regular daily routine.

Yes its gonna get easier lol:)

I was banded Oct15th and get my first fill tomorrow. I was really hungry around weeks 3/4 but since then I don't feel particularly hungry, it's just head hunger I have to cope with. I am eating 3main meals and 2 small Snacks and when I stick to this I lose weight steadily.

Thanks so much for all your words of support! I find I gain strenth reading through the threads and its nice to know others are going through the same struggles. I have to admit, and probably naively, I thought it was going to be easier to get through the liquid phase. As an "inside joke" my husband bought me a jar of baby food and I laughed saying, "I don't think so!!" but I gotta say, I've been eyeing that jar up in the cupboard and its not looking that bad anymore!! LOL!! but I digress..... :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
