So what is everyone doing for Thanksgiving?

Recommended Posts

So what is everyone doing for Thanksgiving? I personally will be sending the hubby and kids two hours away to the in-laws while I relax on the couch, in my PJs, and watch "chick flicks". I knew this surgery had to pay off in some way!

My husband is a firefighter and he is working tomorrow so we will be joining all of the other families at his station for a huge potluck. One of the hotels is catering the main meal and we are all supplementing with other dishes. I just finished baking 2 upside down apple pies myself. I'm not too worried about what I'm going to eat because even though I'm suppossed to be on solids (week 6) I still cannot tolerate them. I'll be sticking to soft foods. The company is what is most important for me tomorrow and the thing that I will focus on instead of the food.

Cheers!

We will be driving about 45 minutes away to my husband's family. I am not to sure how I am going to handle the drive or the food since I just had surgery Monday! Even so, I really want to get out of this house and get some fresh air. I am still on liquids. So, the Thanksgiving meal will not be a treat for me.

I am cooking the entire dinner ... as usual. My brother and his wife are coming and my sis and of course my 2 kids (20 &22 - they still live at home). I did prep work last night and made a dozen red velvet cupcakes w/cream cheese icing. I have not touched even ONE of them. YAY! I made the mac and cheese and dressing today and will put the turkey in the oven in the morning and make the greens and the yams ... and of course the rolls. I am not worried about overeating because I have been under the weather today. Went to work and was sent home. I don't have a cold or anything contagious so cooking is not a problem. I am hoping to feel much better tomorrow.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

~Fran

Well I just had my 3rd fill yesterday, so my Mom and I will just make our famous broccoli dish and if I can handle it I will put it in the chopper. We decided to cook the whole deal on X-mas day as there will be no gifts this year, as I am wearing it inside my tummy!:Banane04:

Happy T-day All

I am staying home by myself. Family all out of state. Son leaving for Kuwait next week went to see his dad, but I had him to myself last weekend.

Well I will be going to my man's family house. I'm still just sampling food to see what this band will let me do. So I really don't plan on overeating at all! I had my first (slime episode) so now I am being really careful. I'm hoping to get some soft food down. I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!

Cooking, cooking, cooking. Really going to try hard to only eat dinner on a small salad plate. I can eat anything at this point. I don't know if that's a burden or a blessing?!

Today is only day 6 for me so ...nothing doing but liquids.:(

I usually have my family at my house but not this year. I called a friend and asked if my daughter could come to her house for the traditional dinner.

This is a small sacrifice for the good of my goal ... and it is good to know that during the Christmas holiday I can eat some real food. I will go to my sister's house at that time and enjoy friends and family.

I'll be home today... i'm even considering going to the Casino.

I'm making myself a pumpkin Soup and along with some sips of Cranberry juice, that's what I'm having for Thanksgiving....

By Christmas, i'll be allowed to have some Thanksgiving -type food... so I'll take the (L) for Thanksgiving.

Going to the in-laws but the day before Thanksgiving I cook our own turkey for leftovers. I did the stuffing (son loves it) but no potatoes. I usually bring the Desserts so yesterday was pie baking as well. I'm not a sweet eater as a general rule so no temptation there. This morning I'm making my mock mashed potatoes (cauliflower mashed with cream cheese and butter) and my sugar free cranberry sauce. Oh...and I still have to make the rolls, which I also bring. *Then* I can relax.

I'm doing a non-traditional ham and scalloped potatoes meal and I plan to eat it in moderation. I normally low-carb, so this will be a "treat" for me :) Then tomorrow it's back to the usual.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
