5 days post surgery

Recommended Posts

I am five days out -- was banded last Friday, the day after my 41st birthday, in Baltimore, MD. I have felt super emotional since the surgery. I am excited and I am terrified. I am so scared to fail this time. I got through the 3 days of all Clear Liquids pretty easily and am now in 2 weeks of liquids/protein shakes and that feels a bit grim. I know I will be reading the discussion here and on various blogs for inspiration...

I would love to hear what's going on in the heads of other newly banded folks...

I have three daughters and I want this for them as much as for me.

Welcome!

Protein Shakes can be yucky depending on the brand. I drink the Myoplex french vanilla with 42 gm of Protein. It's pretty tasty and the grocery store carries it.

It's natural to be afraid of failure at this point, you haven't had the chance to succeed yet. Cut yourself a break and take one day at a time. It's hard to get through the weeks, even months after surgery and before you have restriction. You want it right now, but for your bodies sake, the process shouldn't be rushed. Wrap yourself around the idea that you will have to "diet" in order to lose before restriction helps you control your hunger and your portion sizes. South Beach is a good one. Don't be afraid! It's only temporary! You can get through it:thumbup:

I'm 6 days away from my surgery, and turn 40 this January. I'm so nervous of failure as well. I completely understand your feelings. I'm self pay, and wonder, "what if I spend all this money, and can't or won't do MY part" because I realize that the band is only a tool, not magic, and I have to do my part as well.

I was banded 8 days ago, i have no Fluid in my band as of now, i go for my first fill in 2 weeks. I am eating greek yogurt with a bit of honey and its very satisfying and full of protein! My surgeon recommended it so try that instead of Protein Drink.< /p>

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
