November 2010 Bandsters - post op

Recommended Posts

G Rose, I've been wondering how you have been. How are you? How are you feeling with your 2nd fill? How much do you have in your band now? I go back to Geiss on the 18th for my 2nd fill and I can't wait! They gave me 2 cc's and it nothing for me!! I've beee struggling and trying hard! The holidays knocked me down, and I am trying to get back on track. I am going to FL to visit my family in Feb, and would like to lose about another 10 lbs before I go. Hope I can do it!

No, I've only had my first fill! The second one is this week on Thursday and I'm hoping I'll feel some restriction.

I'm feeling pretty positive. Maybe all that exercise is going to my brain and it really does help your mood after all. Heh. I'm not finding eating well very hard and I do allow myself treats now and then. And I could fit into some pants that were waaayyy too tight last summer, so that helps too!

I'm going on a beach vacation to Aruba at the end of the month and I'm hoping to lose another ten by then too.

Our surgery was on the same day!! thats awesome! keep up the good work!! :)

I had surgery on the 17th of Nov. Fill this past Wednesday the 15th of Dec. I was out of control the last week up to the fill appt. I was hungry, snacking, eating more than I thought I should but feeling no 'fullness'.

Same thing after the fill, got total of 2ccs in my 10 cc band.

Then Saturday, I started to feel the 'fullness'. I ate the top off of one pizza and nibbled on the crust and was STUFFED. Sunday, same thing. Put 1/3 the usual amount of lasagna on my plate, ate a little over half and was stuffed. Yay! Love that!

Looking to loose some weight and get into the 200 range by next fill.

Hope you all are doing well!

I had my first fill yesterday, 5.5 cc's (3.5 at installation) in a 14 cc band. I was told to do liquids for 2 days before real food. Without thinking, I had a bowl of chili a few hours later! LOL I realized halfway through, but since it was going down OK, I finished.

I can feel restriction, sort of like after surgery. I had normal needle pain after the lidocain wore off. The biggest difference is that I had left shoulder pain later in the evening! Hmmm. I never had that after surgery, so I'm wondering if it was from being walked by our dog or if it's from the fill. I guess I'll have to wait until the next fill.

I had my first fill on the 6th, and I felt more gas pain after my fill than I did with the actual surgery! I knew after that what the shoulder pain everyone was talking about. I was not prepared for that. But it wore off after a few days and I was fine.

Hello folks! My name is Sandy and I was banded on Nov 11th, 2010..just finally making my way in to this forum. So as of tomorrow I am 2 mnths post op and have had 2 fills so far. I am at 8cc's . total weight lost so far from the liquid pre op diet to today..is 23 lbs. 16 lbs of that is from the pre op diet..so 7 lbs lost in 2 mnths ? I am feeling a little bummed about it. I know it takes time and I probaly shouldnt be feeling this way maybe..perhaps I am just to overly anxious to see the weight coming off better. Seems after the adjustments the first week after I dont lose anything...I had my 2nd fill on Jan 4th and have not lost anything at all so far since it. I havent gained either though so...I dont know...same happened after the 1st fill..didnt lose anything for the first week and a half..then all of a sudden I dropped 3 lbs like in 2 days prior to my next fill apaointment. Is anyone else finding the same to be true for themselves? Anyone struggling to lose? Am I being over anxious ? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated !

Hey Sandy,

I was banded the day before you, and I feel like Im right there with you. I've got 1 fill and it was 5cc's and Ive only lost 14lbs in 2 months. It is very frustrating, but when I look at it honestly, Im not doing all i could to utilize my band. My life has been in limbo since we've moved cross country, and Im not in a good eating routine, and honest exercise is slim to none (I blame the 5 degree weather outside). I really need to start focusing on me and my band at this point, and then if after exercising and eating right if Im still not losing I'll go for a 2nd fill.

I'm a November Bandster as well, and i'm down 15 since surgery and 22 since pre-op. Not bad but not fantastic either.

Hoping to hit that sweet spot, sooner or later.

Hey everyone, I lost another ten pounds this much so the doc is happy with me. I had my second fill today. I'm feeling very positive and happy about everything. Except the PA told me not to eat Lean Cuisines for lunch because they're too "slide-y" with the sauces and gravies. Damn. I like the ease and Portion Control. I still might eat them sometimes. I'll see how it goes.

Keep up the good work, everyone!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
