Beginning week 4, loss stalled after starting mushies/solids

Recommended Posts

I was really happy with my loss preop and the first 2 weeks of postop. Then we hit week 3. Mushie/solids are ok now and I have been eating food on the ok list. I havent gained any weight, but havent lost any weight this week either. My son was here for a visit and I also didnt exercise.

Now that he is gone I am thinking of going back to liquid for another week or so, and go back to walking a mile daily.

I know introduction of food is definately to blame, but I am hoping someone will tell me it is ok and I will start losing again.

I hate to be stressed this early in the process.

I went through the same thing as you are. When I hit full liquids, I was on vacation with my family...watched them eat out all week long and I freakn gained weight...I was in tears! It will come....I promise!! There is no need to return back to liquids....just make sure you are getting in your Protein, taking your Vitamins, drinking your fluids, etc. The weight will start coming off....just hang in there!! I have hit 60# in just a little over 4 months....Be patient and good luck!

Completely normal your body is adjusting. I gained a pound that week and it came right back off a few days in. Just follow the guidelines and u will be ok.

I had the same thing. First two weeks post surgery I lost a lot, then nothing for two weeks, and now I'm back to losing a lot again.

Don't stress about it. Concentrate on healing and learning new habits. If you are doing what you're supposed to, you WILL lose weight. Your body won't be able to help but comply eventually :blushing:

If you go back to liquids you will end up being hungrier. Think of your pouch as a funnel. After surgery you were swollen so the funnel was smaller. Now that you are healing the funnel will be more open. If you pour liquid it will just slide on through to the big stomach. You will be hungrier much soon than if you stay on more solid food.< /p>

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
