Starting over

Recommended Posts

I haven't been on here in a while but I need some encouragement.

After losing over a hundred pounds my life took several wrong turns. I got divorced two years ago (after the weight loss she became a paranoid beast to live with. It was crazy.) Last year I was downsized at my job of seven years. I found another job right away but it was not a good fit and I was miserable. So I haven't been taking care of myself and haven't been to the doc in over a year. needless to say I have put most of that weight back on. I have been depressed and angry over my lack of discipline but have not found the motivation to right the ship.

Well now hopefully I am getting back on track. I found a really great job that I really like and two of my coworkers are banded! They have been supportive and are giving me some tough love too. I have an appointment next Thursday to hopefully get an adjustment and get back on track. I am quite embarrassed to go like this but I have to face the music. I can't continue the path I'm on right now I don't want to be fat anymore!!!!! Sorry for the long post I just needed to vent. Wish me luck!

Wow, Bob! I'm proud of you! After that kind of hassle in your life, that you'd have the courage to pull it together and get back on track? Awesome! I wish you nothing but total success. Keep us posted!

And don't beat yourself up too much over the pitfalls of where you've been. It's a journey, remember? Somebody a lot smarter than me once said, "The sin is not in falling, the sin is in not getting up."

Best,

Dave

Bob, you are not alone!!! Hang in there. I go tomorrow for my first fill in a year. I am struggling too. Congrats on finding a job that's a good fit for you. That can help make things easier mentally to get back on track!

Been on Protein Shakes since Monday, go to the doc tomorrow for an adjustment. I had been dreading the doc because I know he's going to beat me up, then I realized he couldn't possibly be any harder on me than I've been on myself. Now I'm looking forward to it.

Congrats to you for taking control back! I am also in a similar boat. I lost about 80 pounds in the first few months. Then I started going the wrong direction and gained 50 back. 6 weeks ago I decided to get my butt up off the couch and sign up at a fitness center. And I reactived my fitday account so I could start tracking calories again! And I dragged my fiance with me too lol! In the past 6.5 weeks I've lost almost 30 of those 50 pounds and am feeling great. It was hardest to get to the gym. But once you go, you get into a routine and its easier! You have lots of support here! And also, now that we know how HORRIBLE it feels to regain the weight we worked hard to take off, it will hopefully serve to motivate us to make it work! :)

Bob, Good for you getting started again. Glad you found a new job ypu like. You did it before, and you can do it again. Stop beating yourself up...the doctor has seen this before....you are not the only one. You are still a young man with a lot ahead of you. I hope you continue to make the best choices for yourself like you have been. Isn't it wonderful to have the chance to start over!!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
